custody, a certain JOHN WIL
LIAMS, who was apprehended for horfc
dealing a few days before, and who left
in the pofieflion of the fuhfcriber fevcral
articles, which are as follows :
One new saddle and bridle ; one brace
pistols and holders, covered with Leopard
Ikin ; one umbrella ; one silver watch ;
one pair saddle bags, with a number of
cloathes.
Some of the cloathing are marked S. I.
B. and others S. I. Baldwin. Any person
or persons claiming or owning said pro
perty, or any part thereof, are desired to
come forward, prove their property, and
pay for advertising.

Lands, obtained from the Creek Na
tion, by the United States Commmf-
JionerSy in a treaty entered into at or
near tort IVilkinj oh, on the lOth day
offline, 1802.
Bt it enadied by the Senate and Hou/e
of Rcprcfentdti'Ves of the State of
Georgia, in Genual Aff-mhly met, and
by the authority of the fame, That the
territory fouth of the Oconee and Alata
maha rivers, that is to fay, beginning
at the upper extremity of the high flioals
of the Appalachce river, the fame being
a branch of the Oconee river, and on the
fouthernbank of the fame ; running thence
a direct conrfe to a noted ford of the fouth
branch of LitfJe River, called hy the
Tnrtfino, Phafn.rhnn , chcricc
a direct line to the main branch ofCorn
miffioners Creek, where the fame is in
terfered by the path leading from the
Rock Landing to the O.ikmulgee Old
Towns; thence a direct line to Palmetto
creek, where the fame is interfered by
the Uchcc path, leading from the Oco
nee to the Oakraulgee river; thence
down the middle waters of said Creek,
to Oconee river, and with the weftem
hank of the fame to its jundion of th«
Chkmulgcc river j thence across the?
Oakmulgee river to the fouth bank of
the Alatamaha river, and down the fame,
at low water mark, to the lower bank of
Gaofe Creek j and from thence by a di
rect line to the mounts on tlpe margin of
the Okefinoc.au swamp, raised and estab
lished by the Commifficmers of the Unit
waters of the said river, to the point
where the old line of demarkatioh (hikes
the fame ; thence with the said old line
to the Alatamaha river and up the fame
to Goose Creek, to which the Indian
title has been cxtingniflied by treaty
concluded near Fort Wilkinson, on the
16th day of June, 1802 ; (hall, in con
formity to the twenty third fedion of the
fir ft Article of the Couftitution of this
State, be laid offinto three counties in the
following manner; that is to fay, that
part of the said territory lying fouth of
the Alatamaha, to form and constitute one
county to be called Wayne ; and that
part of the said territory lying fouth of
the Oconee river, to be divided by a line
to he run according to the true meridian
from the Oconee river at Fort Wilkinson,
fouth, forty-five degrees weft, to tho
Indian boundary line, into two counties,
the eastern to be called Wilkinson, and
the weftern to he called Baldwin, and
(hall be divided hy the Surveyor General
or such of the diftrid Surveyors as lie may
think proper to appoint, each county
into diftrids : the county of Wayne into
three diftrids, which diftrids (hall beau
nearly equal as cireumftances will permit,
to he laid off in fach manner as the Sur
veyor General may deem mod expedient,
and the counties of Wilkinson and Bald
win, into five diftrids each, as nearly
equal in extent as circumftanccs will per
mit, hy lines which (hall run parallel
wirh the dividing line between those
counties.
Sec. 2. And be it farther enabled, by
the authority aforefaid ’, That the land
contained in ihe fcveral diftrids, (hall be
divided by lines running parallel with the
dividing lines of diftrids, and by others
crofting them at right angles, so as to
form trads of forty-five chains square,
containing two hundred and two and a
half acres each, plainly and diftindly
marked, in a manner different from the
ordinary mode heretofore pursued for
making lines in this state, to he pointed
out by the Surveyor General; except the
county of Wayne, which (hall be laid
off into trads ot seventy chains square,
and to contain four hundred and ninety
acres each, unless where the line which
is to form a temporary boundary between
