owner of Dragon is deftrous of bringing
bufmefs »f this nature to a speedy clofc, the
season may be difeharged by the punctual

the risk of the owners. Mares may be fed
well once a*ch day, for ten cents per day,
and twice, for twenty cents per day.
DRAGON is of a dark chefnut coulour,
sixteen and an half hands high 5 is defeended
from the best running (lock in England, and
is a brother in blood to the famous horse
Diomed, whofc stock is so highly eftccmed
in Virginia.
DRAGON was unqueftionahly the best
runner of his day. He won and received
forfeit two and twenty times before he en
ded his fifth >ear, and in moll cases for
the highest prizes in England ; —among this
number was the Whip, (which is known
to te the highest objeft of competition ever
established by the Jockey Clqb) of 200
Guineas eacli fubferiber, against two others,
giving them both a year’s weight in riding,
four miles; and the famous match against
Clifden, four miles, carrying (22 $
lbs.) upon each, in which he meat rode by
the Bake of and Cltfden by Sir
fohn Lade,
DRAGON is a sure foal getter, and all
accounts concur in proving his colts tob«
more promising than any in America. In
point of figure, bone, size and power, he
is acknowledged to be fupertor to any horse,
by almost every man who has seen him. His
pedigree, at length, together with the ex.
traordinary performances of his colts as
substantiated by the racing calander of Eng
land, may be seen at his stand.
His fcafon will commence on the ijth
day of February, and end on the firft day of
September.—Ore Dollar to the Groom must
be paid in all cases at the liable door.

The principles which iKall govern
the Editor, in the present undertaking, will
be those that firft actuated the venerable
founders of our liberties, and led them
(after encountering the perils and ravages
of war) to the establishment of a form of
government, “ inluring domciiic tranquility,
providing for the common defence, promo
ting the general welfare, and securing the
blessings of liberty to thcmfelves and their
poftcrity.”
Kite cannot proraife much original matter
of his own, illustrative of the advantages
resulting from a steady and undeviating
adherence to those principles; he will at
least have feurces within his reach, whence
to draw a portion of that political informa,
tion, which the deficiency of his talents
may render necessary. To perform well
this subordinate part of the duties of an
Editor, is a talk of no small importance;
and in the execution of it, something above
mediocrity, may not unfrequcntly be exer
cised to considerable advantage.
