many of the afflictions which “ flesh is heir to,”
it comes nearer being useful, and to come up to
what is claimed for it, than anything we have
known. The Editor of • the Reporter used it
from the time it was first put upon the market
until the war, and found it one of the moBt use
ful and valuable articles which can be kept in a

being extensively manufactured. It is just ex
actly what is claimed for it. We commend it
most cordially to the public.

says: This pestiferous leader of Radicalism in
Georgia was tho author of the murders and out
rages in and near Savannah on tho. day of the
election. Like the loaders here and elsowhore,
he kept his carcass ont of harm’s way. His
speech at an eleotion precinct is thus described
Tho olcction proceedings wore suspended and
Bradley mounted the stand and made a speech
to tho negroes, in which he used the following
words:
“Come on, voters, and swear, perjure your
selves, every one of you that are challenged, and
if they prosecute you, they will have thoir hands
full, and I here promise you, in ease of con
viction, a pardon from Gov. Bullock. ”
The Newest Fashions. — The. London Queen,
in its Paris correspondence, October 24th, says
the two colors likely to be fashionable during
the winter are both bocoming to brunettes; at
the same time, they have been adopted by
blondes, simply because they do not find them
unbecoming. A woman with golden hair is the
ideal type of beauty, and every color should be
come her. Poppies aud corn flowers are very
effective, with waving corn. Tlio tw*S fashiona
ble colors aro ruby of all shades, from the light
rubis balai, as it is called, to the dark garnet,
named macassa; tho second favorite is yellow',
from tho marigold shade up to the dye called
Aurora, which is a very pale tint.

Tlio Stato seal in the possession of Gov. Reed,
was received hero from New York on Tuesday.
It was ordered by Gov. Reed while in New York,
because the first one, now being used by Lt.
Gov. Gleason, being defective and was ordered
before the impeachment question was broached.
The first is so imperfect that it does not show
tho design, while tho last gives persuot impres
sion.
The vacancy existing in the office of Attorney
General by appointment sortie Weeks since of
J. D. Westcolt, Jr., to tho Supremo Bench, was
filled liy the appointment of A. R. Mack—ap
pointment; made by Gov. Reed. Lieut. Gov.
Gleason appointed F. A. Dockery to tho same of
fice. Hope is expressed by the citizens that we
will not have two Supreme Courts in addition to
our other complications. They also hope that
the late additions to the population of tho State
will soon realize that tho cruel war is over, aud
that Grant is elected.
The First Fruits.—The first fruits of tho late
Radical sucooss in tho Presidential election and
Congress aro a panic in Wall street, a docline ot
3J per cent, in Government bonds in two days,
and money run up to .1 to A per cent, per day in
Government bonds for collaterals. This rate
per day is equal to 90 to 180 per annum, and we
ao not wonder to read of failures and general
cali&r gratulntion that our Circuit toUgo is ™s
jin the enforcement of tho law, and economical t 0 gi ve the victory a good color; but
Jacobin successes, it must be remembered, have
never been especially favorable to public credit.

Getting into Washington by a Flank Move
ment.—Tho Washington correspondent of tho
Baltimore Gazette of the 9th says:
Tho arrival of Gen. Grant, last evening
unexpected to most of his friends, the only per
son about tho depot suspecting his presence in
the train being a shrewd haekinan who, having
concealed himself behind ouo of the large stone
columns, sprang out and addressed the Presdont
Gleet with “Hack, General?” “Yes! I want
two,” replied the General. Up came the hack,
and off wont the General and his family from a
side door without the crov/d in front of the de
pot even suspecting what had occurod.
The New York World says: “Where would
the party of universal suffrage be without dis
franchisement? Just figure it up: All Virginia
disfranchised, 170,000 votes; all Texas, 05,000;
all Mississippi, 70,000; in Missouri, 50,000; in
Tennessee, 100,000; in the so called reconstruct
ed State, 160,000—total 606,000. Then, when
they have taken this out by disfranchisement,
they, by negro suffrage juggle in 760,000, rook
ing in all a difference of 1,365,000 votes. Can
an election so carried be considered a fair ono ?
Is this the voice of tho people?”
