General Debility, and for Purifying the

This Sarsaparilla is a combination of
-^vegetable alteratives — Stillingia, Man
drake, Yellow Dock — with the Iodides
of Potassium and Iron, and is the most
efficacious medicine yet known for
the diseases it is intended to cure.
Its ingredients are so skilfully com
bined, that the full alterative effect of
each is assured, and while it is so mild
as to be harmless even to children, it is
’ still so effectual as to purge out from the
. system those impurities and corruptions
■which develop into loathsome disease.
The reputation it enjoys is derived
from its cures, and the confidence which
prominent physicians all over the coun

of its usefulness.
Certificates attesting its virtues have
accumulated, and are constantly being
received, and as many of these cases are
publicly known, they furnish convincing
evidence of the superiority of this Sar
saparilla over every other alterative
medicine. So generally is its superi-
■ ority to any other medicine known, that
yro need do no more than to assure the
public that the best qualities it has ever
possessed are strictly maintained.

was punished by hanging. A boy teu years old
was banged ior stealing a street lantern. The
wealthier citizens were ordered by the king to
build houses iu the Friedrichstndt; aud, as these
houses generally remained unoccupied, their
proprietors were often nearly ruined. The pun
ishment for driving too quickly iu the streets
was twenty-five blows with a stick, and the king
himself used to beat the people of his court, in
cluding the princes and princesses, with n long
knotty stick of white thorn, which has become
bistoiioal. The oflicers thrashed the sergeants,
the sergeants the privates, employers their ser
vants. Street fights wore of daily occurrence,
and the victims were most frequently the police,
whose office was considered dishonorable. All
appointments in the civil service had to be pur
chased. The price ot a privy councillorship was

thaler?, of a privato secretaryship 200 thalers.
For salaried posts the price was higher; thus,
