it lodged on another tree, he climbed
the tree in order to push the fallen

ance and fall on his ax which he hud

had to take six or eight stitches in
his arm. He is getting on nicely ut

Since our IhsI news letter, Salem
has experienced every kind of weath
er amaginable. Wednesday the big
gest snow on record. Thursday blue
skies and despite the snow, balmy
ns u spring day. Friday cold drear
and cloudy. Saturday the ruin fell
in torrents* Sunday, Monday and

News of Mr. Hamp Cotton’s death
has just been heard. Mr, Cotton was

The snow lust week wus indeed a 0,1 the mend and Muster h. 1'. Stur-

er, and even the older men took part
in the sport und seemed to enjoy it
as much us the younger ones. Next
morning after the snow every fellow
with his gun und dog wus out hunt
ing rabbits. School wus suspended
on account of the snow us it was im
possible for the children to get to
school in the cold and snow.

end with home folks in LaGrange.

John Florence, who died on Thurs
day after a continued illness of seve
ral weeks.
Some one burglarized Mr. Cunning
ham’s store Friday night. Must have
been disappointed as he only found
about 32.00 in money. Think the
party may have gotten some little
clothing as that part of the goods
were a little disarranged. Entrance
was attempted at a back window by
cutting wire screen on bottom side,
but finding the sash could not be
raised broke the glass of the front
door, forced the iron bars back
enough to reach the knob of the lock
and entered. The thief has not been
found.
Mrs. Hicks of West Point spent
the week end with her sister, Mrs.
Ed Hardy.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Dunlap visited
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Webb

been the guest of her mother, Mrs.
Tommie O’Neal some time.
Owing to the snov, school was dis
continued for three days last week.
The youngsters enjoyed the holiday
to the utmost, and made snow men
hunted rabbits, ate ice cream and
snow balled to their hearts content.
One of Salem’s most popular school
girls caught a rabbit and in this
excelled some of the boys who were
not ffter poor bunny with dogs and
guns.

day.

ladies was bitten on the hand one day
last week by a pet dog who later de
veloped symptoms of rabies and died
in a day or two. She is taking the
Pasteur treatment under the super
vision of Dr. R. W. Bryant

, The community was very much
shocked by the sad death of Mrs. K.
L. Brewer which occured at her home
in LaGrange. She was a former resi
dent of Glenn where she had many
friends and relatives who mouru her
sad death. Her body was brought
here for interment last Monday, Rev.
T. A. Morgan conducted the funeral
services.
Mr. and Mrs. G* T. Whitley spent
Saturday and Sunday at Corinth.
Mrs. Willie Strickland and children
spent Friday with Mrs. E. E. Turner.
