Miss Sarnlee Harnes was a week
end guest of Miss Inez Caudle of La-

Mr. Keith of Dalonega, spent part
of last week with friends in our little
city. He taught our school four years
ago and his old pupils were delighted
to have him visit them again.
Mr. and Mrs. Fuller and children,
of Wadley, Ala., spent Inst week with
their parents, Mr. and Mrs . Henry
Prince.
Mrs. Charlie Estes and children, of

tes of this place Saturday and Sun

Mr. Roy Freeman returned last
week from the State Normal school at
Athens to spend his vacation with
homefolks.
Mr. and Mrs. Barnes were Sunday
afternoon visitors of Mr. and Mrs.
Dave Smedley.
Mrs. Jim Whatley and children, of
Antioch, were week-end visitors to
her phrents, Mr. and Mrs, Charlie De-

Misses Pearl Wulker, Lima Cofield
and Carmel Glass were in LaGrange
last Friday.
Misses Lillie and Bessie Colloid of
Roanoke spent Sunday with their
cousin, Miss Lima Cofield.
Mr. and Mrs. Edmundson and little
won spent Sunday with their parents
in LaGrange.
Misses Lillian and Alice Sanders and
Mary Amos, of LaGrange, were Mrs.
Reddens’ guests last week.
The Harmony Sunday school will
huve Children’s Day exercises next
Sunday the twenty-first, services to

Big Springs, Oak Grove, Chipley,
LaGjrange, Roanoke, Beech Springs,
Salem, Pine View and a number of
other places were well represented at
the singing here Sunday which was
conducted by Mr. Stewart and daugh
ters, of Roanoke.
Mr. Rivers McCurry spent Sunday
evening with Miss Robbie Cadcn-
hend.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lane entertain
ed some guests during the latter part
of last week.
Miss Nellie B. Rakestruw, of
Mountville, is spending this week as
the guest of her oousin, Miss Mary
Talley.
Mrs. Henry Smith spent the week
end with her mother, Mrs. Minnie
Gutes.
Mrs. McCurry is spending some
time with her son, Mr. John McCurry.
Mr. Oscur Priddy, of Chipley, was
in our midst Saturday.
Mr. Muck Broore is somewhat bet
ter, we are delighted to know.
Mesdames F. W. Bailey and T. \V.
Rakestruw and daughter spent one
afternoon very pleasantly at the home
of Mr. Nick Talley last week.
Mrs. Charley Smith, Mrs. Nick
Talley and daughter. Mattie Nick,
spent Thursday afternoon at the home
of Mrs. Robert Cadenhead.
We arc now having plenty of rain
and grass.
Mr. Ed Moore is suffering with ap
pendicitis. We sincerely hope v for
this young man a speedy recovery.
Mr. Bob Caudle was in our midst
one day last week.
We are indeed glad to see Mr.
Rivers McCurry able to be out again.
Miss Helen Rakestraw spent Wed
nesday afternoon with her cousin,
Miss Mary Talley.
Mrs. Annie Lee Colley, went to town
one morning last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Pies Cliett entertain

Mrs. Martha Thompson is spending

Mrs. T. C. Floyd returned last week
from Athens where she spent several
lays taking in commencement of the
State Normal. She was accompanied
home by her daughter, Miss Oliviu
Floyd, who was one of the graduating

who was an attractive visitor at
Salem during the festivities attend

Ruth of LuGrango and Mr. F. P.

Mrs T. C. Floyd returned home
Tuesday evening from the commence
ment exercises of the Suite Normal
school at Athens where* she hud been
since last Saturday.
Mrs. I). H. Sattcrwhite and May
Dell were shopping in LaGrange Wed
nesday.
MisH Willie Griggs of Atlanta will
spend a couple of weeks at Salem
with her sisters, Mesdames. Olin
Marsh, Virgil Hunter, Luther Ander
son and Misses Griggs.
Miss Etholone Sands came home
from State Normal Commencement
via LaGrange last Tuesday.
Mr. Robert F. Floyd of Wavcrly
Hall, who has been attending the
commencements at G. N. A. C. and
State Normal School, is at present
the guest of his parents, Mr. and Mi-h.
T. C. Floyd.
Friends of Mr. H. B. Shortt of Oak
Grove regret to hear that he was
badly burned and shocked by a bolt of
lightning last Tuesday afternoon.
Rev. W. W. River of Columbus de
livered splendid sermons at Flat
ShoulR last Saturday and Sunday and
it is to be hoped the attendance will
continue to improve.
A number of friends and relatives
from Salem of Mr. and Mrs. John
Floyd of Oak Grove attended the
funeral of their young son, Clyde,
who died in a LaGrange sanitorium
Inst Friday and was buried in the
fnniily cemetery near Oak Grove
Saturday.
Mr. Reese O’Neal has returned hav
ing had a successful term at N. G.
A. C. at Dohilonega.
Mrs. Emory Floyd and family and
Mr. and Mrs. Lije Anderson and fam
ily spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.
Rube Colley ns also did Misses Nell,
Frances and Elsie Anderson.
Judge and Mrs. Cobb I.ampkin,
their son, Eustace and twin daugh
ters, Misses Lois and Lucy of Athens,
entertained a family dinner party at
their palatial residence on Milledge
avenue Tuesday at 2:30. Fourteen
covers were laid and besides the
family the following guests from this
section were present: Mesdames Sallie
Hogg of LaGrange and T. C. Floyd
of Salem; Misses Clyde Hogg of Lula;
Ethelene Sands lof Salem; Jessie
Hogg of LaGrange, Olivia Floyd of
Salem; Prof. Edward Floyd of N. (L
A. C.; Messrs. Cliff Hogg of La
Grange and Boh Floyd of Waverly
Hall. A splendid dinner was served
and the occasion was much enjoyed.
Having received her diploma from
the State Normal school at Athens,
Miss Oliva Floyd is at home once
more to the joy of her friends.
Mr. Cliff Hogg and sister, Miss Jes
sie of LaGrange, motored out to Salem
in their new car one day the past
week. Mr. Bagwell of LaGrange was
driving for them.

with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. C.
Floyd.
Mr. and Mrs. Will Hamer of West
Salem, were guests of relatives here
after church Sunday.
Mrs. Bob Frank Mallory and daugh
ter, Ruth, of LaGrange, returned
home Thursday. She was accom
panied home by her sisters, Misses
Lucy and Lola Griggs.

Thursday afternoon with Mr. and
Mrs. Ben Bryan.

day was unusually small owing bo the

Sunday in their new ear. They visit

Mr. John O’ Spiers, a popular sales
man for a prominent Atlanta house,
was a week-end guest at the home of

ing awhile with the homefolks at
Salem.
Mr. Bowdon Griggs, of Chipley,
spent Monday with his aunt, Misses
Griggs of Salem,
Among those from Salem attending
teachers' examination at Hamilton the
]iast week were, Misses Zelmu Znch-
ery, Etheleene Sands and Mr. Bob
Frank Floyd.
Salem was visited by a severe elec
tric, wind, rain and hailstorm Sunday
afternoon. Trees were blown down,
some buildings, telephone posts and
wires also were laid low while the lit
tle cotton and other vegetation was
almost blown out of the ground and
beat to pieces in some places.
During the present wet period the
farmers are getting a large area of
grain stubble sown down in peas and
other hay crops.
Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Anderson and
family were Sunday guests of Mr. R.
H. Colley.
