WOMAN S CLUB NOTES
The LaGrange \yoman’.* Club will
meet at the residence of Mrs. R. D.
Render, Thursday (afternoon, Sept
ember 10, at 3:30 o’clock. Plans for
a woman’s edition of the Reporter
will be discussed and perfected. The
club has been asked to get out this
edition as soon as possible and will
very probably b e able to do it by the
first of October.
. The Bazaar for the first of Nov
ember, will also be discussed. Baz
aar Chairman will appoint the chair
men of the various committees and
work will be begun immediately. It
is requested that each member bring
some salable article for the Bazaar,
to this initial meeting at Mrs. Ren
der’s. She is also requested to put
her name and the price on the article
in some way.
There will be a domino party at
Mrs. Callaway’s, for the benefit of
the Woman’s Club, Wednesday after
noon, September 9. Admission 25c,
Mrs. R. P. Abraham will make the
refreshments. As there has been so
little entertaining recently, there will
probably be a large attendance.
The year books will be completed
this week and will be ready for dis
tribution at this meeting.

S. C., where she goes to accept the
position as private secretary with the
firm of J. L. Coker & Co- Miss Mar
ian Moseley, also graduate of the
commercial class of the year previous,
holds a positioh as secretary in the
same town. ... '
Miss Ruby Zachry, of Hamilton,
Ga., has accepted a positioh in the
offices of the Callaway’s Depart
ment Stores, andd Miss Louise Knapp
of this city, has accepted a position
with the A. & W. P. Railway.
Both these young ladies graduated
in bookkeeping- and stenography at
the Southern Female College.

Miss Sarah Baugh entertained Fri
day afternoon complimentary to Mrs.
Forrest Johnson.
Progressive games were played dur
ing the afternoon, the guest of honor
being presented with a box of hand
kerchiefs. Following the games the
the hostess entered the room to the
strains of Mendelsohn’s wedding
march and presented the guest of
honor with a shower bouquet of crepe
flowers, each containing a little gin.
The senior class of the high school,
of which the bride was a member,
planned the shower as a surprise, and
each gift, daintily embroidered, was a
token of their love and best wishes for
her.
As the guests arrived and during
the games punch was served by Miss
Grace Lane and Venola Woodall.
A delicious salad course and Iced tea

One of the prettiest parties of the
season was the one at which Mrs. C.

sive conversation were the features
of the evening. The punch bowl on
a table hanked with flowers was
charmingly presided over by Miss

Later in the evening pineapple ice and
cake were served.

ed her ninth birthday Friday after
noon with a theatorium party—after
the pictures were enjoyed, the happy
little folks returned to the home where

An enjoyable affair was the birth
day party at which Master W. C.
Ford entertained Saturday afternoon
celebrating his sixth birthday. Vari
ous games were played both indoors
and on the lawn. Later the little
guests were invited into the dining
room where delicious ices and cakes
were served. The little host was the
recipient of many attractive and use
ful presents.

The members of the Philaphia
class, of which Miss Viola Burks is
teacher, entertained Thursday everting
at a book party on the lawn of the
Baptist church.
Almost the entire membership of
the class attended and the evening
was one long to be remembered by
those present.

afternoon was the party at which Miss
Mamie Harmon entertained. In the

known in LaGrange as the other two
ladies, but we feel sure that her com
ing to this city will add much to the
pleasure and confidence of society’s
smartest dressed women in the selec
tion of their millinery. Miss Truluck
\comes to Callaways from J. M. High
Company, of Atlanta, which is one of
the largest and best known depart
ment stores of the south. She was
'one of their valuable employees and
for several seasons had charge of the
work room as head milliner. - Miss
Truluck is noted as a very smart de->
signer and the LaGrange women
should feel proud to have such skilled
talent to design their headwear to Suit
their own individuality.
