WOMAN’S CLl’B NOTES.
The miniature cotton exposition
during the Federation of Women’s
Clubs at Albany, Ga., was unusually |
interesting and important. It seem-'
ed to emphasize the truth that cotton
is still king. He reigns now and
will ever reign x>ver the Southland,
for this is his legitimate kingdom, his
home. There is norther product that'
can compare With cotton in the variety
of' its usefulness and in its adaption
to this section of country. The ob
ject of the exposition was to demon
strate how the present crisis can be
averted by popularizing the number
less articles which are manufactured
from the fleecy staple. Eloquent ad
dresses were delivered upon the sub
ject, and it was the one important
theme of discussion during every
session. The vast nnditorium was
beautifully and appropriately decorat
ed for the occasion, while on either
side wore arranged booths displaying
articles made from the cotton plant,
in every conceivable form from com
mon household wares up to the most |
exquisite art fabrics and ornamenta-1
lions, |
The v/hole city had imbibed the
spirit. The stores displayed in their i

Beautiful in its simplicity was the Wedding of Miss Clyde Lane to
Mr. Warren Francis Ridley which was solemnized Thursday evening
at eight o'clock at the First Methodist church and the ring ceremony
was impressively performed, by Reverend S. A. Harris.
The church was handsomely decorated for the occasion with quan
tities of chrysanthemums which showed in pretty contrast against
the mass of palms and ferns nndmnny unshaded tapers cast a soft
illumination. A pretty feature of the decorations was a large wed
ding bell of white chrysanthemums under which the bride and groom
stood for the ceremony.
Preceding the entrance of the bridal party, Mrs. .T. L. Bradfield
sang "Could You But Read This Heart, of Mine” with violin obligato
accompanied by Miss McCloud and Miss Burks. At the first strains
of Mendelssohn’s wedding march the bridal Party (filtered led by the
ushers, Dr. Joe Lane, Dr. Wallace Clark, Dr. Claude Ridley of Newnan,
and Mr. Lewis Turner.
Next to enter was the maid of honor, 'Miss Dora Lane, who wore
pink messaline with chiffon and carried pink carnations. 1 She was
followed by the matron of honor, Mrs. Joe Lane, who was gowned
in (link crepe metor draped with lace. She carried- pink carnations.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, Dr. I. II. Lane,
wore a beautiful wedding gown of white satin combined with filmy
chiffon, chantilly lace and seed pearls lending a lovely finish to the
corsage. The net veil which was embroidered in delicate design, was
gathered into a cap and held to the hair with snrovs Pf orange blos
som:; and she carried bride's roses showered with lillios of (ho vnlley.
Th: y were met at the altar by the groom and ms best man, Mr. ,T.

The approaching meeting of the
Woman’s Missionary Union, Auxiliary
and Georgia Baptist Convention, to
be held in Columbus, Ga., November
10, 11 and 12, will be one of great
interest. The body is quite large as
there will bo representatives from the
cities of Georgia, the small towns
and the churches in the country dis
tricts. Special railroad rates have
been arranged on the certificate plan
and all delegates are urged to secure
certificates from the agent when buy
ing tickets; these certificates will be
officially stamped at the convention
nml will allow half rate, plus 50 cents,
on return fare. Should delegates
have to change cars, purchasing more
than one ticket en route to Columbus,
with each purchase of ticket, re< lbest
from the agent a certificate. This
certificate may save you very little
but it will he the meuns of saving
much for the delegates far removed
from the place of meeting; so do not
fail to have certificates intact upon
reaching Columbus.
The Baptist ivqjnen of Columbus
are making great preparation for the
coming of ibis convention. Let the
delegates be considerate of their
hostesses and carry only suit cusps,
and lyhen n^signed to homes, arrive
as punctually as possible.
The delegates will go immediately
from the rtain to the auditorium of
the First Baptist church, where .the
opening session will be held at 11.30
