Capt. and Mrs. Burton were called
to I-aFayette, Ala., last week to the
ned-gide of Mrs. Burton’s sister who
is critically ill.
Mr. and Mrs. Henderson and little
Cecil were in LaGrange one duy last
week shopping.
Mrs. Barnes and daughters, Saralee
and Pearl were spend-the-day guests
in Alabama last Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. McClain and little
grandson, Henry Lee of Standing
Rock, Ala., spent Sunday with Mrs.
Estes.
Miss Cecil Williams and brothers,
Otis and Tom of Glenn, spent Satur
day night with Mrs. Will Williams.
Mrs. John M. Freeman is spending
several weeks with Mr. and Mrs.
Charlie Wade Freeman in Oakland,
Ala.
Miss Saralee Barnes spent the
week-end with friends in LaC.range
Misses Nettie and Bertha Lan-
dreth and Messrs Ralph Haralson and
Clifford Hogg of LnGrange were
visitors here Sunday.
Estes was ‘in Standing Rock
e Wednesday morning.
Misses Mary and Leila Prince were
afternoon cnllers of Mrs. Glass’ last
week.
Messrs. Solon O’Neil. Olin Ozley
and Tom Dodgen of Standing Rock,
were Sunday afternoon visitors in our
little city.
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Smedlev and
daughter. Ruth, spent Friday’night
with relatives in LaGrange.
Mr. and Mrs. Glass were week-end
guests of friends in LaGrange.

Ahhottsford was well represented
at the Fair last week and all were
delighted with it It would be easier

Salem was pretty well represented
at Troup county f^ir and our two lo

kept busy day and night carrying
people each dny during that time.
One car made the trip between Salem
and LaGrange eight times in one day
and night.
Miss Cornelia Sturtivant of near
Chipley, was the guest of Misses
Swanson Sunday.

Miss Mary Sue Floyd and Mr.
John Anderson who have been on our
sick list, we are glad to note are im

Miss Etheiene Sands was the guest
of Mr. and Mrs. Jim O’Neal part of
last week.
Mrs. Lilia Willis and Kathleen
went up to spend fair week with the
family of Mr. George Willis of South

Miss Grace Sturtivant spent Fri
day afternoon with Miss Olivia Floyd.
Rev. J. A. Sewall of Chipley con
ducted his regular week-end services
at Salem Saturday and Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Anderson visited
Mr. and Mrs. .John Anderson Sunday.
Mr. Homer Borders of Pleasant
Grove visited Miss Cleo and Jewel
Swanson Sunday afternoon.

Miss Evelyn Brazcll, of Atlanta,
spent several days last week with

Mrs. Arthur Anderson spent Thurs
day in LaGrange the guest of Mrs.
Grover Hunter.
Mrs. B. C. Dnniel entertained a
few of her friends Monday afternoon
in compliment to Mrs. Steadman.
Miss Lillian Daniel is spending
some time with het sister, Mrs. Law
rence Owen.
Mrs. Rowland Strong spent the
week-end with her parents, Mr, and
Mrs. T. P. Jenkins.
Miss Pearl Burden has returned to
her home in Atlanta, after a pleas
ant visit to her sister, Mrs. C.S. Bur
den.
Mrs. Harry Driver has returned to
her home in LnFuyette, Ala.
Dr. Pierce was present at the last
quarterly conference, and preached
two excellent sermons Sunday morn
ing and evening.
Mr. Wilbur Smith spent Monday in
Atlanta.
Messrs. Rolit. Strickland and Robt
Trimble of Auburn University spent
several duys at home last week.
Mrs. R. W. Trimble chaperoned a
dance at Newnan Friday evening.

Mrs. North entertained at a lovely
“42" purty Friday afternoon in honor
of her sister, Mrs. Steadman.

The Missionary Society had an in
teresting meeting at the Methodist
church Mohday afternoon.
Miss Inez Johnson of Newnan spent
the week-end with her parents.
Mr. S. A. Davis had an old fash-
tion "corn shockin’’ Monday night.
Appropriate refreshments were serv
ed and quite a lot of corn was “shock
ed." Some real negro ballads were
sung, and proved to be a very enjoy
able occasion.
Messrs Walter Lowe, Render Dow
dell and Allen Jemison spent a few
hours in our town Sunday on their
way home from Atlanta.
Miss Thelma Hayes is at home
from Athens to spend a few days.
Mr. Marvin Sewell was in our town
Saturday.
Mr. Smith, from Dadeville, came
Sunday to spend some time with his
daughters, Mrs. Starr and Miss Nora.
Mrs. Dixie Torbet and Mrs. Clyde
Driver spent Friday in Atlanta.
Mr. T. J. Jones of Newnnn was a
visitor to relatives last week.
Mrs. .1. W. Childress bus returned
to her homo in Atlanta after a pleas
ant visit to her parents.
