Allen and fam ily, from Roanoke, Ala., are spending a few dayB with the latter’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Gross, Mr. R. L. Allen is to start for Florida Fri day looking for u now homo. Wo wish for him a pleasant trip but sorry to give up our old friends. Mrs. Fincher, from Roanoke, Ala., is the guest of her son, Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Fincher, Also her sisters, Misses Bettie and Martha Edwards. Mrs. E. M. Middlel)rooks gave a big quilting Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Biron Lipham were the guests of the latter’s parents, Mr. and MrB. J. T. Middlebrooks one night this week. ♦ • ♦ PLEASANT GROVE ♦ ♦ ♦ The people in our community were saddened to hear of the death of Mrs. Julia Hendrix which occurred Satur day at her home near Big Springs. Mrs. Bob Cadenhead has returned home after a week’s stay with her sister, Mrs. Jim Piper of West Point Mra. J. E. Borders and daughter, Miss Kara Bpent Thursday in La- Grange as the guests of Mra. Albert Owen. Mra. Emory Floyd and children of Salem, are on a visit to her parents, Mr. and Mra. Bob Cadenhead. Miss Mary Hunter spent the week end in town with homefolks. Misses Eva McCurdy and Esther ♦ Simmons spent the week-end in town * with their aunt, Mrs. Tom Daniel. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Owen spent Friday with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mra. J. E. Borders. Miss Marion Wynn of Greensboro will be the lovely guest of Misses Kara and Ethel Borders at their pretty country home “Corrinades,” Near Pleasant Grove during the Xmas holidays. ♦ ♦ ♦ GLENN «• ♦ ♦ ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦ Mr. and Mrs. Jas. L. Harrison left Monday to visit relatives in Colum bia, S. C. Mr. Cullen Borges and Miss Iva Lane Adamson were married last Sunday. May their journey through life be happy. We gladly welcome Brother. H. 0. Green and family in our midst Mrs. Willie Strickland and daugh ters, Jenette and Irene, spent last Monday with Mrs. E. E. Turner. Mr. and Mra. J. W. Phillips spent last Wednesday with Mrs. Edd Mid- dlebrooks. Mrs. Jesse Strickland and daugh ters spent Tuesday with Mrs. E. E Turner. Miss Robs Lane and sister, Miss Hattie Crouch and Mrs. E. E. Turner spent Tuesday afternoon with Mra. H. O. Green. Mrs. Milton Strickland and daugh ter, Eula Mildred, spent Monday af ternoon with Mrs. E. E. Turner. Death of Mrs. W. P. Trammell. Our community was made sad last Thursday when the death angel came and took one of our neighbors and friends, Mra. W. P. Trammell. She was sick for several weeks and death came as a relief to her suffering. She was a true mother and good wife. Her remains were laid to rest at the M. E. church at Glenn. She is survived by a husband and five chil dren, who have our deepest sympathy. ❖ ♦ ABBOTTSFORD * ♦ Mrs. Edmundson returned last week from a pleasant visit to friends in Atlanta. Mrs. Estes and Miss Saralee Barnes spent Thursday morning in Standing Rock. Mr. and Mrs. Glass were week end guests of friends in LaGrange. I*. I«14 Grange. Miss Vesta Dye of Pyne spent Saturday and Sunday with Miss Sara- lee Barnes. Messrs. John Markett and Ralph Haralson of East Vernon were in our little city Sunday afternoon. , Miss Lena Gross was hostess at a very enjoyable party last Friday evening. Mrs. Walker and daughter. Pearl were in LaGrange last Saturday shop ping. Our corn club boys certainly had a delightful time in Atlanta. Among those who attended were: Dewey Gross, Horace Cliff and, Leo Free man, Curtis GlasB, Albert and Heard Bassett. Mr. McGuinty of Lanett, Ala., preached to a large and interested congregation at Wehadkee first Sun day. A preacher from Roanoke will preach at Wehadkee next first Sun day. Prof. Wilson’s school will close for the holidays on the twenty-third. The pupils will have a concert on that night, Wednesday, and we are looking forward to some good exercises. MeClendon’B family last week. Mra. Linda Lester and sister and little Miss Doris are visitors in Man chester this week at the home of Mrs. Lester’s parents. Mrs. Whittaker is quite feeble this week. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Coats have re turned to their homo in Senoia. They have been guests at Mr. and Mrs. Brumbeloe, their parents. Mrs. Peavy returned to her home in Odessa last week. She has been the guest of her daughter, Mra. J. F. Carley. Mrs. J. F. Carley and her daugh ter, Mrs. R. 8. Swygert and little Miss Claudia visited Mr. and Mrs. Truitt Carley at Hogansville one day last week. From there Mra. Swygert re turned to her home in East Point. Mra. L. S. Monroe visited relatives at lunette Saturday and Sunday. Sorry to place Mr. Luther Craig on the disabled list this week. Mr. Lott and his daughters gave an entertainment Saturday night in the way of a candy matching, a nice crowd was present and much enjoy ment reported. Misses Carrie Lott and Annie Bird and sister, from Dunson’s Mill spent Saturday night and Sunday with Miss Susie Lott. Mr. Ed Smith, from Riverview visited his sister, Mrs. Annie Horn last week. Mr. and Mra. B. F. Fuller, from Elm City visited relatives here last week. Notwithstanding the severe cold spell last Tuesday, Mr. H. F. Wil liams made a business trip to the country. Little Miss Rosa Bell White, from Atlanta, is stopping at the home of her aunt in this community. Mr. and Mra. Arthur Kitchens and Master J. W. Lester went shopping in Atlanta one day lately. Misses Lula Craig and Eddie and Lula Whitaker visited Mr. and Mrs. Joe Frosolono Sunday afternoon. Mr. Mike Frosolorto and Master Frederick visited Mra. Birdsong Sun day.
