His Office is next door below the Drug Store ! of Danforth &. Nagel, up stairs; messages left at their , Drug Store will be attended to. His residence is the one j formerly occupied by the late Dr. Goulding, opposite the ; Court House. Columbus, Jan. 10, 1850. 2 Ctn Obituary. The subject of the following brief notice, Abner H. : Flewei. lev, M. D., was born in Warren county, Ga., on the 19th May, 1800, and died in Wynnton, on the morn ing of the 28th December, 1849, being 49 years and 7 months of age. Dr. Flevrellen was possessed of extraordinary intellec tual endowments, which, combined with a happy temper ament, general intelligence, and the sanctify ing influences of an experimental and practical Christianity, eminently qualified him for the diversified and responsible duties of the citizen and patriot, the husbi nd, father, master, and Christian. Ia every department of life, whether in the legislative hall, circle of friendship, works of benevolence, morality, the sacred duties of domestic character, or the interests of the Church, his influence was for good, and productive of the happiest results. His chief delight, how ever, was found in the latter interests, and in these his excellent character was more fully developed and appre ciated. At sixteen years of age, he became a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, of which he lived and •died an exemplary and useful member. Asa husband, he was particularly attentive and kind; ns a father, firm and dignified, yet mild and aiFectionate J as a master, compassionate and pleasant, communicating to all with whom he had intercourse that feeling ol cheer fulness which so strikingly characterized his own lilt*. Asa Christian, he was conscientious and faithful, suf fering no intervention of religious duty*; when the hour caine for prayer, private oi domestic, or tor public worship in the temple of God, no paramount obligation was recog nized, and nothing was suffered to divert him from these high and holy engagements. The Doctor was particu larly’ courteous and rnild, in his intercourse with mankind, yet fearless and pointed ill his admonitions and reproots to those of his brethren in whom he apprehended a ne cessity for such acts of Christian faithfulness. For the space of twenty years or more, he served the church of his choice us leader of a class, for which re sponsible office he was singularly qualified, and in the exercise, of which he succeeded to a large extent in the edification of those committed to his charge, as well as inspiring them with a high sense of his gifts and graces, *nd consequent value to them in this relation. Long will they remember his lessons of instruction, enibued as they were with the spirit of religion, and replete with “the : wisdom which is from above,” which “ is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy’ to be entreated, full ol mercy j and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. ; Owing to they Aire of his disease, (involving a total prostration of system,) our beloved brother! guvo no aymiat of a readiness for his change. None tr ait neV ‘°fr. (( )\lreoonl is with God and his broth- j ren ; his life ,|of his religion, the oxemplifica- , tion of his sum “ Mark the perfect man and behold the upright, for the end of that man is peace.” But to sum the whole up in few words, the Doctor was social in his feelings and cheerful in his manners, yet dig nified and grave ; deeply pious and devout in his religion, though not morose ; uniform and bold in his attachments to the church, combining at the same time, the charac teristics of the Christian, patriot, gentleman, and eompa i iaiit Few have lived more beloved, or died more deeply’ j regretted. But “we sorrow not as those who have no liope,” and yielding with submission to this dispensation, ! hope for the formation of a reunion in the “spirit land,” , which shall grow and strengthen with the perpetual ages of a blissful eternity.
