the most ok press ive words <>f <Htier languages,
and after a while to incorporate them into our
own: thus the word Cephalic, which is from the
Greek, signifying “for the head," is now becom
ing popularized in connection with Mr. Spalding’s
great Headache remedy, but it will soon be used
in a more general way, and the word Cephalic
will become as common as Electrotype and many
others whose distinction as foreign words has
been worn away by common usage until they
seem “native and to the manor born.

Headache is the favorite sign by which nature
makes known any deviation whatever trom the
natural state of the brain, and viewed in this
light it may be looked on as a safeguard intend
ded to give notice of disease which might other
wise escape attention, till too late to be
and its indications should never bo neglected.—
Headache may be classified under two names, viz:
Bymptomatic and Idopathio. Symptomatic head
ache is exceedingly common and Is the precurser
es a great variety of disease, among which are
Apoplexy, Rheumatism, Goutjand all febrile dis
eases. In its nervous form it is sympathethie
of disease of the stomach constituting sick kead
ache, of hepatic disease constituting biliouehead
ache, of worms, constipation and other disorders
of the bowels, as well as renal and uterine affec
tions. Diseases of the heart are very frequently
attended with headaches, Ansomia and plethora
are also affections which frequently occasion
headache. Idiopathic Headache is also very com
mon, being usually distinguished by the name of
nervout headache, sometimes coming on sudden
ly in a state of apparently sound health and
prostrating at once the mental and physical en
ergies, and in other instances it comes on slowly,
heralded by depression of spirits or acerbity of
temper. In most instances the pain is in front
of the bead, over one or both eyes, and some
times provoking vomiting; under this class may
also be named Neuralgia.
For the treatment of cither class of Headache,
the Cephalic Pills have been found a surcamlsafe
remedy, relieving the most acute pains in a few'
minutes, and by its Bubtle power eradicating tko
disease of which lloadacho is the unerring index.
Bridget. —Missus wants you to send her

but perhaps ye’ll bo after knowing What it is.—

telaved her before.

Constipation or I’ostivcncss.
No one of the “many ills flesh is heir to' - is so
prevalent, so little understood, and so much neg
lected as Costiveness. Often originating in care
lessness, or sedentary habits; it is regarded as a
■light disorder of too little consequence to excite
anxiety, while in reality it is the precursor and
companion of many of the most fatal and danger
ous diseases, and unless early eradicated it will
bring the sufferer to an untimely grave. Aiuo|g
the lighter evils of which oojdiveness is the usual
attendant, ara Headache, Colic, Rheumatism,
Foul Rreatli, Piles and others of a like nature,
while a long train of frightful diseases, such as
Malignant Fevers, Abscessos, Dysentery, Diar
rhoea, Dyspepsia, Apoplexy, Epilepsy, I‘aralysis,
Hysteria, Hypochondriasis, Melancholy and In
sanity lirst indicate their presence in the system
by this alarming symptom. Not Unfrequently
the diseases named originate in Constipation, but
take on an independent existence unless theeause
is eradicated in an early stage. From all these
considerations it follows that the disorder should
receive immediate attention whenever it occurs,
and no person should neglect to get a box of Ce
phalic Pills on the first appearance of the com
plaint, as their timely use will expel the insidi
ous approaches of disease and destroy this dan
gerous foe to human life.
A Beal Blessing,

wish you would send more so that I can have

Physician. —You can get them at any Drug
gists. Call for Cephalic Pills, I find they never
fail, and I recommend them in all eases of head
ache.
Mrs. Jones. —l shall send for a box directly,

FEVER AND AGUE,
from which mankind, suffer over a large part of the
globe, is the consequence of a diseased action in the
system, indaced by the poisonous miasm of vegeta
ble decay. This exhalation is evolved by the action
oftok.r heat on wet soil, and rises with the watery
vapor from it. Whil°. the sun is below the hoiizon
this vapor lingers near the earth’s surface, and the
/irtus is taken w'ilh it through the lungs into the
olood. There it acts as an irritating poison on the
internal viscera and excreting organs of the body.
The liver becomes torpid and fails to secrete not only
this virus, but also the bile from the blood, Both the
virus and the bile accumulate in the circulation, and
produce violent constitutional disorder. The spleen,
the kidneys, and the stomach sympathize with the
liver, and become disordered also. Finally, the in
stinct of our organism, as il in an attempt to expel the
noxious infusion, concentrates Use whole blood of the
body in the internal excretories to force them to cast
it out. The blood leaves the surface, and rushes to
the central organs with congestive violence. This
is the chiil. Butin this effort it fails. Then the Fev
er follows, in which the blood leaves the centre! or
gans and rushes to the surface, as if in an another effort
to expel the irritating poison thouhgh that other great
excretory—the skin In tbis also it fails, and the sys
tem abandons the attempt exhausted, and waits for
the recovery of strength to repeat the hopeless effort
another day. These are the tits or pwoyxysms of
Fever and.Aouk. Such constitutional disorder will
of course undermine the health tfit is not removed.
We have labored to find, and have found, an anti
dote.
Ayer’s Ague Cure,
w hich neutralizes this malarious poison in the bleed,
and stimulates the liver to expel from the body. As
it should, so it does cvyethis afflicting disorder with
perfect certainty. And it does more, or rather does
what is of more service to those subject to this infec
tior. If taken to season it expeis it from the system
as it is absorbed, and thus keeps those who use it free
trom its attacks ; keeps the system in health although
exposed to the disease. Consequently it not only
cures, bnt protects from the great variety of affections
which are induced by this melignant influence, such
as Kenittent Fever, Chill Fever, Dumb, or Masked
Ague, Periodical Headache, or Bilious Headache,
Bffioas Feyer, Neuralgia, Rheumatism, Gout, Blind
ness, Tootache, Earache, Catarrah. Asthma, Palpi
tations, Painful Affections of the Spleen, Hysterics,
Colic, Paralysis, and painfnl Affections of the Stom
ach and Bowels, al„ of which w hen arising from this
cause, will be found to assume more or less the in
termittent type. This “Ague Cere” removes the
cause of these derangements andcuies the disease.
This it accomplises by stimulating the excretories
to expel the virtue from the system; and these organs
by degrees become habited to do th s their office of
their own accord. Hence arises what we term accli
matation, Time may accommplish the same end, but
often life is not longanough, or in sacrificed in the
attempt, while this “Ague Cuke” does it at once, and
with safety. We have great reason to believe this is
a surer as well as safer remedy for the whole class of
diseases which are caused by the miasmatic infection,
than any other which has been discoved ; and it has
still another important advantage to the public, which
is, that it is cheap as well as good,
is. that it is cheap as well as good.
