Now ruiAo ind bring him here, and
I shall watch the gold until be comes.”
So the boy ran for the baker.
“ Brother workman,” said the old man,
“you have made some error, and almost lost
your money,” and he then showed the baker
the gold, and told him how it had been found,
“is it thins?” asked the father; “if it is,
take it away.”
“ My father, baker is very poor, and—”
“ Silence, my child; put me not to shame
by thy complaints. 1 am glad we have saved
this man from losing his money.”
The baker had been gaxing alternately up
on the honest father and the eager boy, and
upon the go d which lay glittering upon the
green turf.
“ Thou art, indeed, an honest fellow,” said
the baker, “and my neighbor David, the flax-
dresser, told but the truth when be said thou
wort the honestest man in our town. Now
I shall tell thee about the gold. A stranger
came to my shop three days sgo and gave me
that loaf, and told me to sell it cheaply, or
give it away to the honsstest poor man whom
1 knew in the city. I told David to send thee
to me, as a customer, this morning ; as thou
wouldat not have the loaf for nothing, I sold
it to thee, as tboa knowest, for the last pence
in thy purse; and the loaf with all its treas
ure—and, certes, it is not sn*JI!—Is thine,
and God grant Ihse a blessing with it,”
The poor father bent his head to the ground,
while the tears fell from his eyes. His boy
ran and put his hands about his neck, and
said :
“ I shall atwkys, like you, ray father, truBt
God and do what is right; for I am sure it
will never pul us to shame.”

Tbs Amalgamates ok Lasulauks.— There is
a growing tendency iu this age to appropriate
the most expressive words of other languages,
and alter awhile to incorporate them into our
own ; thus the word Cephalic, which is from
the Greek, signifying “for the head,” is now
becoming popularised in connection with Mr
Spalding’s greet Headache remedy, but it will
s<>on be used iu a more general way, and the
word Cephalic will become as common ea Elec
trotype and many others whose distinction as
foreign words has been worn away by common
usage iiulil they seem “native aud to the manor
born.”

Hbadachr is the favorite sign by which
nature makes known any deviation, whatever,
from the natural state of the brain, aud view
ed in this light, it n ay be looked on as a safe
guard intended to give notice of disease which
might otherwise escape attention, till too late
to be remedied; aud its indications should
never be neglected. Headaches may be classi
fied under two names, vis : Symptomatic and
Idiopathic. Symptomatic Headache is exceed
ingly common, and is the precursor of a great
variety of diseases, among which arc Apoplexy,
Gout, Rheumatism, and all febrile diaemaee.—
Iu its nervous form it is sympathetic ol dis-
ease of the stomach constituting tick headache,
of hepatic disease constituting btliou* headache,
of worms, constipation and other disorder* ol
the bowels, os well as renal and uterine affec
tions. Diseases of the heart are very frequent
ly attended with IL-adaches; ALsentia and
Plethora are also affectiuns which frequently
occahiou headache. Idiopathic Headache is
ulao very common, being usually distinguished
by the name of nervous headache, sometimes
coining on suddeuly in a state of appsrenily
souud health, aud prostratiug at once lhe men
till and physical energies, and iu other in
stances it comes off slowly, heralded by deprt s
ou of spirits or acerbity of temper. In mitft
. ..stauccs the pain is in the frout of the head,
over one or both e^es, and sometimes piov-.k
ling vomiting; under this class may also he
uamed Neuralgia.
For the treatinentof either class of Headache
the Cephalic Pills have beeu (bund a sure and
safe remedy, relieving the uwwt acute pains iu
a few minutes, and by its subtle pow< r eradic
ating the diseases of which Headache is the
unerring index.
Bridget.— Missus wants you to send her h
l>cx of Cephalic Glue, no, a bottle of Frepared
Pills—but I’m thinking that’s not just it nei
ther; but perhaps ye’ll be after knowing what
it is. Ye see she’s nigh dead and gone with the
Sick Headache, aud wants some more of that
same as relaivcd her before.
^Druggist.—You must mean Spalding’s Ceph
alic Pills.
Bridget.—Och ! sure now aud you've sed it,
here’s the quarther and give me the Pills and
dont be all day about it aither.
Constipation or Costiveness.
No one of the “many ills flesh is heir to” is
so prevalent, so little understood, and so much
neglected as Costiveuess. Often originating in
carelessness, or sedentary habits, it is regarded
as a slight disorder of too little consequence to
excite anxiety, while in reality it is the pre
cursor and companion of many of the most
fatal and dangerous diseases, end. unless ear’y
eradicated, it will bring the pullcrcr to an un
timely gravo. Among the lighter evils of which
costiveness is tho usual attendant, are Head
ache, Colic, Rheumatism, Foul Breath, Piles
and others of like nature, while a long train of
frightful diseases, such as Malignant Fevers,
Abcesaes, Dyseutary, Diarrhoea, Dyspepsia
Apoplexy, Epilepsy, Paralysis, Hysteria, Hy
pochondriasis, Melancholy and Insanity, first
indicate their presence in th* system by this
alarming symptom. Not unfrequently the dis
eases named originate in Constipation, but
take on an independent existence, unless the
cause is eradicated in an early stage. From all
these considerations it follows that the disorder
should receive immediate attention whenever
it occurs, and no nerson should noglect to get
a box of Cephalic Pills on the first appearance
of the complaint, as their timely use will expel
the insiduous approaches of disease and destroy
this dangerous foe to human life.
Gbrat Discovkrt.—Among the most impor
tant of all the great medical disooveriea of this
age may be considered the system of vaccina
tion for protection from Small Pox, the Cepha
lic Pill ior relief of Headache, and the use of
Quinine for the prevention of Fevers, either
of which is a sure specific, whose benefits will
be experienced by sutlering humanity long af
ter their discoverers are forgotten.
