Call for Volunteer Companies,
The Confederate Government has authorized
the undersigned to raise a regiment of Infantry,
to serve for three years, or during the war,—
which it agrees to fully arm and equip. Com
panics numbering sixty-four men and upwards,
will be accepted and ordered into eamps imme
diately. Nobly has Georgia responded to the
calls made up-m her. ( eorgians are found in
every camping ground from the Rio Grande to
the Potomac. But patriots and soldiers of Geor
gia. again the call comes for men. moke men .'
The enemy is swarming on our coast, to wrest
from us all that we hold dear, our liberty, our
honor, the honor as our families and our prop
erty. Friends of the South, remember. to be
conquered is death and disgrace, and blots out
tiie sunshine from every home and fireside in the
South. I was one of the first to strike for South
ern In iependence. both at the ballot box and in
the field. and with Divine assistance, and the
help of my countrymen, will tight until we drive
the last enemv from our soil.

When the name of Capt. Ricketts was
drawn, C .pt. Thomas Cox, of th'* First
Kentucky regiment, offered to take his

bring my neck in danger of a haler;
but so it appears. 1 never thought
that, after being spared the hail storm
of balls at Leesburg, I might have to
face tb atli in another and dishonorable
form.

From Havana.—A friend has shown us a
letter received in this city from Havana, bear
ing date Nov. 15, trum which we extract the
following:
Be vend cargoes of Carolina Rice have been
received lately, amounting to 455 casks and
1445 bags, which was sold at 15 and 16 rials
two four, and six months.
“Spirits of Turpentine has declined to sl6
per quintal.
'Exchange on London is quoted at 16 per
cent, pitiu.um; on Paris. 2 3-4 to 3 per cent,
