At my induct on into Office the ’n
debtedness of the City was about $1450
according to the report wf my predeces
sors. Nothing has been added to the
indebtedness of the City during my ad
ministrotian and although no improre
ments have been made, it was thought
best to derate the limited resources of
the city to the reduction of its indebt«d
ness. From the best information I can ob
tain the indebtedness of the City at this
time is about $900,00 and I now leave
the Treasury of the City able to pay its
indebtedness. You will of course be the
udge of your own policy. Respectful

reports of the Treasurer, Tax Collector
and Finance Committee.

Return of Vallandigham.
Dhavton, Ohio. March 13.—Hon. C. L
Vallandighain, member of Congress from
the Dayton (Ohio) district, arrived at
home in this city at 4.30 this afternoon,
and although but two days’ notice vraa
had of hi# coming, he received one of
the greatest ovations ever given to any
nun in Ohio. Long before tho hour us

man, woman and child in the district had
