They are gone away.
We prayed them stay,
Rut they said nay,
Why should they roam
So far from home,

Alack a day !
They went away,

# We cannot say
They’ll come this way
Some future day,
To play croquet.
Their work seems done,
The heathen won,

Their way has paid,
But now they cease,
These doves of peace
Will go away.

A recruting officer has be^n in this city for
some days, and we learu, has met wijh as
tonishing success. Four or tive hundred
men may or may uot leave this section in the
course of time for the cause of “liberty” iu

Seriously—We ask every afflicted man,
woman and child in this community to rend
and seriously ponder the high evidences of
fered in behalf of Darby’s Prophylactic Fluid
by the proprietors. These evidences will lie
found in our advertising columns, and are
given by some of the best men that this or
any other Slate can afford.—In the summer
of 1807, we saw an arm that had been shot
almost into fragments, sa* , ed from amputation
for more than one month by its use. The el
bow joint was so badly fTaoturcd that had
Jhe bone been put in a mortar and crashed
with a heavy pestle it could scarce have pre
sented a worse appearance.—And this arm,
in this condition, wa9 saved by this fluid
from amputation for more than a month in
the midst of tho warmest season of this warm
olimate; and had a cure been possible it
would no doubt have beon effcoled.—If any
one doubts this statement, the witnesses are
at hand to establish it.—Marion, Ala., Com•
