To pieserve ihe Water Woiks which convey
Water from Turkuett’s Spring, and for other
purposes
\«€»HEREAS the City Council, uy theii
agreement made and entered into with
Thomas McGrao aud his associates, ou the 19th
day of March 1828 to convey water him the
citv did covenant ■* to «oact trom tiino
to time, such Oidnmnces as may be propel and
necessary to preserve such waterworks from
abuse and injury, isk! also to prevent the un
uecessaiy use of Hydrant water.
Sec. Ist B»it therefore ordained, by the citv
oiincil of Augusta, that any person who shall
.1 1 1 fully injure any of the water pipes or hydrants
within t e eorp •rate’limits of the city shall on
conviction e fined in a sum not exceeding one
hundred dollars
Sec. 2d. And t>e it tui liter ordained. That any
poison or persons who shall draw water from
the Hydrants in the streets, except with the per
ussiou of the owner of the works, or for the
purpose of extinguishing fire or for the use of
,ome of the fire companies, may be fined in a
s im not exceeding fifty dollftrs
Sec 3d. \nd be it .urtherorda ned, that any
person or persons, who may have contracted foi
the use of the water of Tuikoetts spring on his
her or their lot or lots, who shall in violation of
his, her, or their contract, draw or permit to be
drawn more of said water than Is necessary for
the use of his her, or their farndy, may be fined in
a sum not exceeding fifty Hollars for very offence.

"AN ORDINANCE
To amend An Ordinance passed the 14th May,
1831, entitled an Ordinance to levy a tax on
DOGS, kept within the city of Augusta.
Sec. Ist. Re it ordained, by the City Council
of Augusta, that the V.-tnrn required by the Or
dinance passed the 14th May 1831, be and the
sameisheieby suspended, until the annual tax
return for the year 1833; when it shall be the
duty of all persons resident within the corporate
limits of the city, to make his, her or their re
turn, and annually thereaftet on oath, of all
Dogs, kept on which a tax is levied by the pro
visions of said Ordinance.
Sec. 2d. And be it Jurther Ordained, That the
7th section of the said Ordinance be aad the
same is hereby repealed.
