RAN AWAY from the subscriber’s Plantation,
in Columbia County, about the first ofAprl
last a Negro Boy named GEORGE, about 25
years old, 5 feet Bor 9 inches high, has a large
bushy head of hair, rather light complected, and
inclined to be roundshouldered—speaks quick
when spoken to, has a sullen look, and shows his
teeth very much when laughing The above re
gard will be paid on the delivery of said Negro
to me, in Columbia county, or if lodged in any
Jailsqtha: 1 get him again. It is believed he is
lurking about Angusta and Savannah—and it is
likely that when caught he would not tell his
owner’s name, 89 he refused to do so on a
former occasion.

AN ORDINANCE
TO regulate the weighing of Fodder, Hay
and Oats in bundles brought to the city of
Augusta in wagons, or carts for sale by weight.
Sue Ist. Be it ordained by the City Council
of Augusta, That all Fodder, Hiy and Oats
brought to this city in wngons or carts for sale,
shall be weighed at the scales prepared for that
purpose near the lower market.
Stc. 2d Be it further ordained, That it shall
be the duty of the clerk of the lower market to
superintend the weighing of all Fodder, Hay and
Oats, at all hours of thedav, from sun rise till
sun set. And tha party selling such Fodder,
Hay or Oats, shall pay to the said clerk fifty cts.
foi each wagon, and twenty-five cents for each
cart or dray
Sec. 3d Be it further ordained, That every
person who shall violate the provisions of this
Ordinance, may be fined in a sum uot exceeding
Twenty Dollars.

Blacksmith by trade ; dark complexion, 5 feet
11 inches high. 35, or 40 years of age ; also on
the 25th inst a Girl, calls herself ELLEN, says
she belongs to Sarah Burns, of Abbeville, Dis
trict Suth-Carolina Ellen is dark complexion
5 feet high, 18 or 20 years old ; and walks very
lame in her right hip, which she sa-s was
caused by Rheumatism. The owners of said
Negmes-, will come forward pay expences and
take them away.

a man. belonging to the State of Georgia, who
calls himselt PETER. Peter is very djrrk. a
hout 35 years old. Also, on the 17th January,
1833 a man who calls himself S AM, and says
he belongs to Edward Holliday, of Bulloch
county, Ga. Sam is about 5 feel 7 inches high,
dark complexion, and about 40 years old Own
ers of said Negroes will come forward, comply
with the terms of law, and take them away,

LAW OF GEORGIA*
AN ACT to provide for the call of a
Convention to reduce the number ol
the General Assembly of the Slate
of Georgia, and for other purposes
therein named.
lie it enacted by the Senate and Houst
of lleyresmtatives of the State of Geor
gia in General Assembly met , and it is
hereby enacted by the au'hority of the
same , 1 hat the first Monday in April,
1833, bo, and the same is hereby desig
naied and set apart as day on which
the citizens of Georgia qualified to vote
for members ol the Legislature, shall ai
the several places prescribed by law for
bolding such elections vote for delegates
to represent them in Convention, in num
ber equal to their representation in both
branches of the General Assembly; such
elections to be conducted, managed and
certified under the same law as are of
force in respect to elections of members
of the General Assembly.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted , That
it shall be the duty of such managers to
transmit to his excellency the Governor
the result of said elections under the laws
now offeree for conducting managing and
ceitifyiog elections of membersof General
Assembly' as aforesaid, within 30 days af
ter such elections—Whereupon it is made
the duty of His Excellency the Govern
or to issue his proclamation declaring the
result of said elections by naming the
individuals severally elected to represent
the good people of Georgia in Convention
as contemplated by this act.
Sec. 3, And be it further enacted , That
overy citizen of the United States shall be
eligible to a soat in said Convention who
has attained the age of twenty-five years,
and been an inhabitant of ibis State seven
years immediately preceding the day of
niselection and who shall have tesided
one your in the county for which he shall
be elected.
Sec. 4, And be it further enacted, That
each member returned as duly elected,
shall previous to taking his seat in said
Convention take the following oath, or
affirmation, viz: I, A. B- do so lin illy
swear, that I will not attempt to add to,
or take from the constitution or attempt
to change or alter any other section,clause
ar article of the constitution of the S ate
of Georgia, other than those touchinglhe
representation in the General Assembly
thereof; and that I Ivive been .a citizen
of this state for the last seven years, so
help t»fl God. And any person elected
to a seat in said Convention, who shall
refuse to take the oath aforesaid,shall not
be allowed to take his seat in said Con
vention.
Set c. 5, And be it further enacted, That
the members of said Convention shall
assemble on the fust Monday in May af
ter (heir election, at Milledgeville, in
the Representative Chamber of the State
Mouse, for the purpose of entering upon
and consummating the great objects of
their convention, to-wit: a reduction and
equalization of the General Assembly;
shall have power to prescribe their own
rules and forms of business, and to deter
mine on the qoalifica'ions of their own
members; elect necessary officers, and
make till orders which they may deem
cenductive to the fut therance of the ob
ject for which such Convention shall as
semble.
Sec 6, And be it further enacted,That
it shall be the duly of His Excellency ihe
Governot to give publicity to the altera
tions and amendments made in the Con
stitution in reference to the direction [re
duction] of the number of the members
composing the General Assembly, and
the fits Monday iu October next, after
the rising of the said Convemion, be shall
fix for the raaificawon, of such new arti
cles as they may make for the object of
■ eduction and equalization of tho Gener
al Assembly only: and if tatified by a ma
joruy of the voters who vote on theques
'ion of “Ra ificaiiou” or“ No Ratification
then and in that event, the alterations
so bv them made and ratified, shall l e
binding on (he people of this State and
not otherwise,
Sec. 7 And be it further enacted’, That
it shall boa fundamental aiticie in the
format iun or amendment of the Consti
tution, that each county of the Suite now
organized or laid out, oi which may ber
after be crealed by law, shall be entitled
to at least one representative in the rep
resentative branch of the General Assem
bly
Sec. 8, And be it further enacted, That
so soon as this act shall have become a
'aw, Mis Excellency tho Governor,be, &
he is hereby requited to cause it to be
published io the Gazettes of this State,
once a week until the day fixed on bv
this act for the election of delegates to
said Convention; aud that all laws and
parts of laws militating against this act,
be, the same are hereby repealed.

with black legs, main, and tail, six years
old, fifteen bands three and half inches
High, of uncommon fine limbs, muscle,
bone and action. He has been introduced
to this State upon high recommendation
with a view to improve stock of South
ern horses —and his high origin justifies
the expectation that this object may -be
accomplished. He was got by the impor
ted Bagdat Arabian, fwho was sold in
New York by Mr. Bat clay for $8,000,)
—his dam Rosa Carey, was by Sir Ar
chy—his grand dam Sally Jones, by im
ported Wrangler—who was by imported
Diomed the site of Sir Archey. The
Pedigree of Quidnunc is not only first
rate but authentic. (See American Turf
Register, for Nov. 1831, page 152.)
