At Athens, oil the 4th in»t Mr. S. Mats t»
Miss Luct Ah* Moors, both of that place.
In ths same place, on the sth inst. SasspSoh W
Harris, E«q of Enfonton, to Miss Pavlina
Thomas daughter of Stereos Thews, Esq. of

DIED.
In this city, on the 18th inst. of Scailet Fever,
Janet, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Me-
La*s, aged 6 years, 9 mouths and 5 days.
" Thou steepest! but when wilt thou wake fair
child ?
When the fawn awakes ’midst the forest wild ?
When the lark’s wing mounts with the brecse of
morn 1
When the first rich breath of the rote is born 7
Lovely thou steepest, yet something lies
Too deep and still on thy soft sealed eyes :
Mournful, though sweet is thy rest to see—
Wlieu will the hour of thy rising be 7”
“ Net when the fawn wakes, not when the latk
On the crimson cloud of the morn floats dark—
Grief with vain passionate tenrs hath wet
The hair, sheddinggleams from thy pale brow yet:
Love with sad kisses unfelt hath prest
Thy meekdropt eyelids and quiet breast:
Aud the glad spring, calling on bird and bee,
Shall color all blossoiM, fair child, but thee.”
'•Thou’rt gone from us, bright one—that thou
> shouht’st die
And life be left to the butterfly:
Tbon’rt gone, as h dew drop is swept from the
bough,—
Oh! for the world where thy home is now!
]low may we love but in doubt and fear,
How may we anchor our fond hearts here,
Hoy should e’en joy hut a trembler be.
Beautiful dust, when we look on tbee7”
