Merchant and Planters’ Bank.
The Directors are under the panful necessity
of informing the Public, that the Bank hag
been compelled to suspend paymeut. The caus
es which have led to this result, are the heavy
and continued demands that have been made
for specie, during the last five weejrs; and the re
ports industriously circulated throughout the
country, with a view it is believed, to impair
confidence tn the stability, of the institution, and
bring in suddenly its wtole circulation for, r,e
demption. The affairs of the Bank wjll be
brought to a close, as soon as possible; and in
the meantime, the holders of the Bills are cau
tioned against parting with them at a sacrifice,
before their value is fully ascertained
