ON the 19th inst. a Negro 3oy, who, calls
himself SQUIRE, says he belongs to Star
ling Evans of Warren County Georgia, near
Sweet Water Squire is 5 feet 5 inches high ;
daik complexion, and about 16 or 18 years old.
ALSO,
On the same day a Ni gro Man, who says he
belongs to the Stat- s of Georgia named PETER,
says that Mr. Lvman has he control of him—
Peter is 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion
and about 38 or 40 years old.
Owners of said Negioes. is requested to come
forward, prove property, pay expences and take
him away.

on Tuesday morning 22d inst. a mulatto Ne
gro Woman, by the name of HE IT Y, and NAN*
CY her daughter, and WILLI M her son, well
known about Augusta, belonging to the estate ot
R M’Coombs. Hetty is a low bright Mulatto
about 41 years of age Nancy is low, rather
darker than her mother, about 15 years of age
Very thick lips William is a pale mulatto about
10 or 12 years old. The above reward will be
paid on cpnyiction of any white person harbor
ing said Negroes; and if taken up as Runaways,
and put in any Jail in this State Fifteen dollars,
or Five dollars for either They are supposed
to be lurking about Augusta or its vicinity.
Hetty's husband belongs to Mr. Andrew Dill,
nnd 1 understand was in Augusta on Monday, be
is hired out in Burke county, and may have in
duced them to Burke. 1 am deteimmed to
prosecute any person harboring, concealing,or
inveigling said Negroes

AN ORDINANCE
fTTO regulate the weighing of Fodder, Hay
I and Oats in bundles brought to the city of
-Augusta' in wagons, or carts for sale by weight.
Sec. Ist. Be it ordained by the City Council
of Augusta, That all Fodder, Hay and Oats
brought to this city in wagons or carts for sale,
shall be weighed at the scales prepared for that
purpose near the lower market.
Sec. 24. Be it further ordained; That it shall
>e the duty of the clerk of the lower market to
superintend the weighing of all Fodder, Hay and
Oats, at all hours of the day, from sun rise till
sun set. And tha party selling such Fodder,
Hay or Oats, shall pay to the said clerk fifty cts.
or each wagon, and twenty-five cents for each
cart or dray.
Sec. 34- Be it further ordained, That every
person who shall violate the provisiohs of this
Ordinance, may be fined in a sum not exceeding
Twenty Dollars.

RAN AW AY from Raytown, Wilk-s county,
Geo. on Lie 24ttr day of April, a very bright
mulatto Negro Girl named 3IA.IITHA,
or (Martha Evans,) 16 or 18 years of age, takes
the name of Evans from her first master’s name,
marks fc features inclined to be a little freckled
when closely examined, roman nose, well pro
portioned, near 5 feet high, her hair a little light,
though not so straight as many mulattoes ; noth
ing like as white as she is ; at times wears ladies
false hair, commonly wears ear rings, and dress
es neat. Airy person apprehending said girl and
committing her to jail, will receive the above re
ward. It is thought she will try to pass fora
w hite lady, or endeavor to get to a free State.
Stages, Steam Boats and other vessels, or Car
riages of any kind are notified not to receive
such a girl with a pass or without it, or harbor
ing said girl; otherwise the law will be put in full
force to the extent of my purse against any per
son, if found out. She was raised by Mr. Amory
Sibley, of Augusta, and was lately owned by Mr
B. Baird, of Augusta. Any information respect
iog said girl will be thankfully received.: '

AT Jacksonboro’, Striven county, on the Sth
day of April last, a negro man who says
his name, is JOE, and that he belongs to William
White of Effingham county, he is about five feet
high, yellow complexion, and abeut 25 years
1 old. He has an iron on his leg and one round
his neck. The owner is requested to come for
ward, pay expenses and take him away.

Ham Fleming of Lincoln County, deceased, that
they would apply to the Court of Ordinary for
said county, for leave to sell the real estate of
said deceased, (except the widow g dower) and
the Court of Ordinary for said county, being
satisfied that legal notice had been given by
the said administrators of such intended appli
cation and no person appearing to object to an
order absolute for the sale of said real estate an
order at Term of said court of Ordinary
parsed authorizing the administrators to sell the
real estate of said deceased (dower excepted.)
And whereas upon examination of the records
and minutes of said court of Ordinary no such
order is to be found entered. Jt is Ordered,
That James Ramsay, administrator of said es
tate and the heirs and distributees thereof or
their legal guard'ans, and ail other persons con
cerned be and appear before the court of Ordi
nary for said county on the first Monday in Ju
ly next, and shew cause, if any, why the said
court shall not cause said order absolute for the
sale of the real estate of William Fleming dece
ased to be entered on the minutes-of the Court

one of the public newspapers of Augusta, thirty
