Augusta in wagons, or carts for sale by weight.
Sec. Ist. Be it ordained by the City Count it
of Augusta, That all Fodder, Hay and Oats
brought to this city in wagons or carts tor sale,
shall be weighed at the scales prepared for that
purpose near the lower market.
Sec 2d. Be it further ordained, That it shall
be the duty of the clerk of the lower market to
superintend the weighing ©fall Fodder, Hay and
Oats, at all hours of the day, from sun rise till
sunset. And the party selling such Fodder,
Hay or Oats, shall pay to the said cleik fifty cts.
or each wagon, and twenty-five cents for each
cart or dray.
Sec. 3d- Be it further ordained, That every
person who shall violate the provisions of tins
Ordinance, may be fined in a sum not exceeding
Twenty Dofars. •' _

ON the 17th inst. a Negro Man, who calls
himself TOM, says he belongs to Lymop
Parker, of Bibb county, Geo. Tom, is 5 feet five
inches high, dark complexion, and about 25
years old.
ALSO,
On the 18th inst. two Negroes Cyrus
and Miles, Cyrus, says he belongs to Jones Per
sons of Upson County, Cyrus is dark 5 feet 6
inches high, and about 35 years old. Miles
says he belongs to Wm. Red of Buike county,
dark complexion, 6 feet 3£ inches high and
about 16 years old. Owners of said Negroes is
requested to come forward, pay expenses and
take them away.

THE subscriber having recently taken out
letterspatent from the United States for a
new principle of applying Animal power, which
I call the Accelerator; the discription of this
machine is such that it can be applyed to Mills
generally, where animal power can be applied.
I offer the following statement to the public to
show that I have proved the power of my ma
chine, I erected a temporary saw mill, with one
saw, to which I put 2 horses, (the horses were not
accustomed to work in a and sawed thro’
a fourteen inch log with more ease than two
horses can Gin in the common mode of applica
tion; the horses being removed, eight men worked
the machine, and cut at the rate ofthiiteen huo«'
died &i > ghty feet per day.—Say that one ihit d
of the is lost in returning the log and put
ting on fresh logs, the machine is then adequate
to saw eight or nine hundred feet per day with
two horses.

ON tlie 19th inst. a Negro 3oy, who, calls
himself SQUIRE, says he belongs to Star
ling Evans of Warren County Georgia, near
Sweet Water. Squire is 5 feet 6 inches high;
dark complexion, and about 10 or 13 years old.
ALSO,
On the same day a Negro Man, who says he
belongs to the States of Georgia, named PETER,
says that Mr. Lyman has he control of him—
Peter is 5 feet 6 inches high, daik complexion
and about 38 or 40 years old.
Owners of said Negroes, is requested to < ome

IN the late conflagration of the 1 resin y build
ing, nearly <Ji the correspondence ol the Sec
retary of the I’reasurv, from the estAhlishmeat
tothe 12st March, 1833, was destroyed including,
as well the original letters and connunnieations
addressed to the Secretary of the Treasury, as
the records of the letters and communications
written by him. With a view to repair the loss,
as far as may be practicable all officers of the U
nited States, are t equested to cause copies to be
prepared, and authenticated by them, of any let
ters (excepting those hereinafter alluded to)
which they may at tiny time have written to,®r
received from, the Secretary of the Treasury ;
and all those who have been in office, at d other
individuals throughout the United States and
elsewhere, are invited to do the same That
correspondence may be arranged into appfopii,-
ate books, it is requested that it be copied on fo
lio foolscap paper, with a sufficient margin on
all sides to admit of binding, anil that no more
than one letter be contained on a leaf. It is also
requested, that the copies -be written in a plain
and distinct or engrossing hand Where the or
iginal letter can be s ared. it would be prefered.
The reasonable expense incurred in copying the
papers now requested, not exceeding the rate of
ten cents forevery hundred words, will be defray
ed by the Department.

and of which, therefore, no copies are desired,
are the recoi ds of the letters written,by the Secre
tary of the Treasury toPresidents and Cashiers
Banks, from the Ist October 1819, to the 20th of
Febpary, 1833, all the correspondence relating
to Revolutionary cairns nnder the act of 15th
May, 1826, and to claims of Virginia officers to
' half pay, under the act of the sth July, 1831 ;
and to applications for the benefits nt'the acts
of 2d March, 1831, and 14th July 1832, for tiie
relief of certa n insolvent debtors ol the United
States. Copies of some ciicclar letters and in
structions, written by the Secietary, have also
been preserved ; and it is requested that, before
a copy be made of any circular letter or imst’ iic
tion, written by. the Secretary of the . i reasury,
the dateand object of the circular fee fir t stated
to the Department, ai d it wishes on the subject
ascertained.
