dinance prohibiting the sale or delivery
of intoxicating Liquor to Slaves, within
the limits of the city, after the first day
of October next, without a ticket from
their owners or their agents and that this
Resolution be published.

" AN ORDINANCE
T'Q regulate the weighing of Fodder, May
and Oats in bundles brought to the city of
Augusta in wagons, or carts for sale by weight.
Sec Ist. Be it ordained by the City Council
of Augusta, That all Fodder, Hay and Oats
brought to this city in wagons or carts for sale,
shall be weighed at the scales prepared for that
purpose near the lower market.
Sec 2d. Be it further ordained, That it shall
be the duty of the clerk of the lower market to
Superintend the weighing efall Fodder, Hay and
Oats, at all hours of the day, from sun rise till
sunset. And tha party selling such Fodder,
Hay or Oats, shall pay to the said clerk fifty cts
oi each wagon, and twenty-five cents for each
cart or dray.
Sec. 3d- Be it further ordained, That every
person who shall violate the provisions of this
Ordinance, may be fined in a sum not exceeding
Twenty Dollars.
Done in Council the 6th day of Dec. 1832.

field going in a direction from the Store when

Now, in order to biingto condign punishment,
the person or persons guilty of this nefarious
act, the Charleston Fire and Marine Insurance
Company hereby offer a reward of Five Hund
red Dollars, to any person, who will, within six
months from the date hereof, discover and prose
cute to conviction the person or persona guilty
of the said act of arson ; and any private infor
mation that may lead to .the. .discovery and con
viction of the perpetrators thereof will be hand
somely rewarded.

pleted, it is due to the Public to have a
plain statement of facts. Good Tides to
prize holders, were not published by the
superiutendanis, till the Bth day of last
September, (the time the Louerry truly
came before the Public) to be drawn the
24th day of December, (hereafter. It
was then postponed till ihe 2d day of this
month, and from casualties could not be
drawn. The proprietor in the first time
given, from the situation of his family*
could not leave Thomaston to sell Tick

time from the duties of office, could not

in the hands of respectable Agents, and
in the hands of the Treasurer of the Su
perinteodants. Who will return it to
purchasers, should the Lottery, by any

Thursday, the 11th hist. He states that he was
born in Putnam County, in the State of Geor
gia ; is the son of Edward Rumney, lately de
seased, of Clinton, Jones County, Georgia,
where he worked as a Carpenter and Bricklayer;
the Boy’s mother’s name, before marriage, was
Eliza Lo-*e—he came in the last steamer from
Augusta,in search ofhisxncle,Benjamin Rumney,
who he understood lived in Charleston.
