Mr. Spencer remarked', on introducing
this motion, that it was with considerable
reluctance he had submitted it to the house;
reluctance, however, proceeding solely
from his inability to do justice to tbe sub-
I ject, and not from any uoubt.
Mr. M<Lane, of Delaware, rose, he said
not to offer any opposition to the enquiry,
but merely to request tiffin to give to the
subject of the resolution such a considera
tion as its importance deserved. He wish
ed the resolution th lie on the table for a
day, or for n longer time, that the house
might have time .to rcllcct on it. He
therefore moved, that it lie on the table,
and be printed.
Mr. Spencer said he bad r.osortof ob
jection'to this coarse;-but he hoped that
after gentlemen should have reflected on
it, they would be disposed to take it np
and act on it at an early day.

The engrossed bill to establish a sepa
- rate judicial district in the state of Virgi
■tia, west of the Allegany mountains, was

Mr Floyd, ofVirginia, moved to recom
mit the bill, for the purpose of amending it
so as to divide the Eastern Irom the Wes
tern judicial district, by county lines, be
lieving that to be a much better dividing
v line than that established by the bill.—

shall be composed of so much of the state
of Virginia as is situated west of the sum ■
mil of the mountains which separate the
waters emptying into the Chesapeake Bay
. and Roanoke river, from the waters which
fall into the Ohio river.]
