For son s' time past, tv pcs have bte’ii h atred in
value, but not in price. They have been sold o r
long and frequently uncertain credit, whirl, nr..
duces, to the seller all lhe effects of reduction of
price, whilst to the printer w|io pays it it. of cr i. -
paratively little- benefit. All the advantage is jo
favor of those who pren-ise, but do not pof.ras
111 truth they get tj pts for nothing, *nd IheHsoi-
vent printers pay for them. Another objection to
this mode of reducing price is, tnat it abiorl s the
seller’s funds, and, no matter how industrious or
frugal he may be, subjects him to all the inconve
niences of poverty.
Men who possess talents, economy, induatiy
and honor, will sometimes lark money. 1 In 11 „
meters who have just claims to there attubuu j,
will rarely be at a toss for friends, and will entrr
on business yvith a mere favorable prospect of sn t -
cess, alien assisted by a moderate, tlian by an ex.
tended credit, which is equally within the reach ■ t
a rival, who, with an ardent disposition forspecu
lation and adventure, may have but doubtiui
claims to reputation for prudence.
In order to leave no ground lor complaint, it ia
to be tti.-dersit'cd that all purchasers, since the
first of April, w ho comply with the new terms,
will be entitledto benefit hy the new prices.
