Regulating the Public Markets in the city of Sa
vannah.
•‘Sec. 4. Ard be it further ordained by the au-
t'ho-ity aforetatd, That if any person or persons,
whatsoever, shall buy, or cause to be bought, or
shall make any bargain, contract, or promise, £pr
the having and buying of any of the articles above
recited, brought to, or intended to be brought to
any cf the public markets of this city, before the
ringing- of die bell, or until I lie stated times and
hours, as herein specified, such person or persons
so offending, shall forfeit the articles so bought or
contracted for, and the seller and the buyer, shall
each be fined, if a free person or persons, in a sum
not exceeding twenty dollars, at the discretion of
council; and, if a slave or slaves shall be guilty of
the like offence, lie, she or they, shall suffer such
fin?, orcurporal punishment, as is directed in the
forgoing clause:—Provided, that no citizeri'pur-
chasing, for the use of his own family, from any
person bringing fish or vegetables to market, pre
vious to its arrival at the market house, shall be
subject to such a fine; snd, that no person or per
sons shall buy or sett, or contract for tbejjuying
or selling of any pork, beef, mutton, veal, or meat
that shall be killed in, or brought to the said city,
for sale, before the same shall be brought to either
of (he markets, and exposed to sale there, under
the penalty and forfeiture, for every such offence,
as well of buyer orseller, often dollars, together
with the article or articles so bought, sold or con
tracted for.
‘Sec. 9. And be it further ordaitttl by tbe autho
rity ajoresaul. That >f any slave or slaves shall
sell or off er for sale, any kind of provisions or fruit
in any of the markets, or any other public place in
tliis city (fresh fish excepted) without a ticket from
his or her master, mistress, overseer or employer,
particularly enumerating the articles so exposed
to sale, it shall and may be lawful for any white
person to seize on all such articles as are not en
umerated in tbeir tickets, and to apprehend the
said slave or slaves, and carry him, her or them
before any one of tbe commissioners, who is here
by authorised and empowered to examine into the
case, and to condemn all such articles not specifi
ed in the ticket for the use of the informer.”

Lands for sale.
One thousand and fifty acres of LAND, in Mc
Intosh county, Broro neck, in two separate tracts,
one of which containing three hundred and sixty
(360) acres, is situated on the Salts, immediately
open to Sapelo Island, remarkably healthy, with a
good two-etory dwelling House, Kitchen and oth
er necessary out buildings on the premises; two
hundred acres of which are good cotton land,
cleared and under good fence. The other tract,
which is within a mile and a half of the first, con
tains 640 acres, two hundred and fifty (250) of
which are of first quality high inland swamp, very
level and easily drained, having a large salt creek
at either extremity—it may be considered as prime
land for corn, cotton or sugar cane, and may be
rendered perfectly secure by a force of 40 or 50
hands.—There is a great deal of light red oak
land, some stoney knowles, and (he balance well
