Fire- Wood wanted
ON TUE WESTERN WATERS.
The steam-boat Company-are desirous of con
tracting for a regular supply of WOOD; to be or
dered for the use or the steam-boat* the ensuing
season, at convenient landing places on Oconee
and Altamsha rivets. The Wood must be of pitch
nine, cut from the bodies of large trees, of high
land growth, and well seasoned.—Light-wood
would be preferred. Persons willing to contract
for the delivery at one or more landings, will
end their proposal* specifying the rate per cord
and the name or the landing, its estimated distance
from Darien, Milkdgeville, or tome public place.

In Darien, on tlie 15th instant, a negro wench,
who calls herself Naxct. well dressed, about 20
years of age, four feet nine or 10 inches high, jet
black. Says she belongs to Mr. John butler, of
'iavsnnah, and was left under the protection of
Mr George Allen.
Also, on the 26th instant, a negro man, that calls
hi.vself Gsossz; says he belongs to John Glover,
of Dorse creek, Edgefield District, South Carolina,
George is about 20 years ot age, five feet eight or
nine inches, very intelligent and well dressed, a
little pvck marked Says he has been * house

ter belonging to a Mr. Bourquin about 10 or 11
mile* on the Ogechee road, she may have been
conveyed to that quarter to elude discovery. Sil
ls is about 22 years old, of low statue and down
look; being bora and raised in the neighborhood
and formerly owned by several inhabitants m this
city she Js too well known to require a further
