tar. and relieving pain caused by carious teetli.
Few discoveries in modem chemistry promi-o
more important results than that ofKroosotp, by
Dr. Reichenbach, an eminent chemist nf Blnn*-
ku, io Monrovia. It is a highly rectified liquid
product, obtained from wood, and i* analogous to
charcoal in its antiseptic properties, but far more
powerful as a corrective nnd preventive of de
cay. Charcoal, notwithstanding its well known
cleansing properties, is objectionable ns a denti
frice, on uccmint of its insolubility, and the risk
of mimiie particles remaining between the teeth
mid producing injury. Kreosnta, on the contra
ry. caunot be liable to this objection, nnd posses
ses, to a much greater extent, the uutisentic nnd
purifying properties of the former. The trials
which have been made with it. in this country
and Europe have proved its efficacy.
It is strongly recommended by the Faculty n*
the best preventive against caries in teeth. * Tn
swucleii tbo breath, rendered offensive by decay

to arrest decay itself, it stands pre-eminent.
Ellis'$ compound Krcosotr. Tooth Hush, com
bines tho virtues of Kreosote, of tiiu strength
adapted for this purpose, with oilier substances
known to bo highly advantageous in whitening
and preserving the teeth.
Itis confidently recommended to the pnhlicos
n valuable Compound, which may be used daily
with great advantage to the teeth and gums, at the
same time leaving an agreeable senvution iu the
mouth. There is no acid in this wash, nor ntiy
ingredients entering into its composition, but
such as are hu'hly beneficial to the teeth.
It has been examined and used by seveniFof

for the teeth nnd gum*, preventing the latter from
becon ing spongy, and, by its detergent nnd an
