ELLIS’ COMPOUND
Krcosote Tooth Wnsb<
Retommtndtd by the Faculty,
rjuns compound will he found serviceable in
arresting and preventing decay in teeth
keeping thn tenth and gum* iu a healthy and clean
condition ; sweetening the breath; removing tar
tar. and relieving pain caused by carious teeth.
Few discoveries in modern chemistry promise
more important results than that of Kreo-mte, hy
Dr. Reichenbach, an eminent chemist uf Blaus-
Vo. in Monrovia. It is a highly rectified liquid
product, obtained from wood, nnd is analogous to
charcoal in its antiseptic propertied, hut far more
powerful n* a corrective and preventive of de
cay. Charcoal, notwithstanding it* well known
cleansing properties, is objectionable n* a denti
frice. on account of it* insolubility, and the risk
of minute particles remaining between the teeth
and producing injury. Krensnte, on the contra
ry. cannot be liable to this objection, and posses-
ms, to a much greater extent, the antiseptic and
purifving properties of thu former. The trial*
which have been made with it. in this country
and Enrope have proved its efficacy.
It is strongly recommended by the Faculty as
the best preventive against earn-* in teeth. ' To
sweeten the breath, rendered offensive by decay
ed teeth, the use of tobacco, or oilier causes, aud
to arrest decay itself, it stands nre-eminent.
LUis's compound Kreosotr. Tooth Hash, com
bines the virtues of Kreosote, of tho strength
adapted for this purpose, with other substances
known to bo highly advantageous in whitening
and preserving the teeth.
It u confidently recommended to the public os
a vnluabSe compound, which may he used daily
with great advantage to the teeth and gums, at the
same time leaving an agreeable sensation in the
mouth. There isoo acid in this wash, nor any
ingredients eutering into iu composition, but
such ns are highly beneficial to the teeth.
It has been examined and u*ed by several of
the first Physicians of this city, who have on liesq
tation in recommending it as an exodleut wti*h
tor the teeth ami gums, preventing the latter from
bccou ing spungy, aud, by iu detergent nnd an

which arise from many disorder*, especially fe
vers; perspiration, which extend* the pores, re
laxes the route, causes the hair to fall off, and of

been esteemed a great defect. It generally arises
through violent exercise, from whence arise per
spirations, which too frequently occasion a loss
ofthe hair—it relaxes the roots—the acidity pre

it to waste. For instance, after n violent perspi
