WARE ANTED—C nop 1840.
T HE Proprietor's opportunities for extensive
practical observation have enabled him judi
ciously to discriminate such varieties of vegeta
bles as are really worthy of culture, from the Infe
rior, or, as is not unfrequenl, worthless varieties
ofthe same clnss, which have been perpetuated
through inexperence; therefore, in making this
selection, he has excluded many sorts usually
found in the Catalogue* of those ' who are mere
tenders wax practical growers of seeds.—And he is
not sure that the variety might not he still further
reduced with advantage; nt any rale this is ample
for any garden, however extensive, and fully
adapted to tho nicest taste.
As to qnulity ofthe seeds, the proprietor wishes
it to he remembered, llint what is sold by him is
of his ousn growth, (with hut slight exception,)
therefore warranted with entire confidence, that they
will, upon trial, prove to he far superior to most
of foreign importation, or such as are casually

Jayne’s Hair Tonic—Hail*.
T HERE is nothing like a good head of hair to
.set off a mun's pate, As the poet says—
"—'Tis the robo which curious' nature weaves
To linng upon the head, and does adorn
Our bodies."
To be sure a bald head is becoming enough In
a judge, or a minister, for itlooks grave and ven
erable, uud tho’ it mny not he an unerring evi
dence of wisdom, yet it is a decisive proof that
the individual is not hair brained.—Young per
sons, especially young beaus and belles, ere rath
er averse to a premature disrobment oftheir
roofs ; and he who oilers n remedy to preserve
that important prnauient must lie looked upon in
the light of n benefactor. And such a otm is Dr.
Jayne, whoso Imir tonic Imsdone wonders inconx
mg the hair out on barren spots, and preventing
its falling off. There iB no qnnckerv about tills
hrtinleV “Wbhave seen evidence of its efficacy.
A gentleman who has been bald for a number of
years, by tho uso of this tonic, has got quite a
flourishing growth oiitlia late waste place. Those
whoso Imir, liko false friends, is leaving them,
will find this an excellent preventive. To young
bucks who aspire to bushy wlfiskers, this tonic
must he invuluable—and to young ladies who
would preserve their glossy ringlets, it must be
tho great desideratum.—Portland Transcript.
