THE SONGS I SANG.
■T ALBERT RRDI.OX.
I M&f of joy ; bat (till no<atiafio4
They bad* me *iag ig%in fame other long ;
I Mac of battle fierce, of pomp and pride,
And breathed inch music earnestly and long.
Bui all In rain—they said, another tone,
Than these should ring from that sweet harp
of thine;
Soft, like the winds of summer, it should moan,
And erery floating murmur seems divine.
So then I smote the suing with deep complaint
Os hopes fulfilled not, grier unmerited ;
And, sinking to a nets more low and faint,
I raised a hymn of sorrow for the dead.
'Twas well, they said—’twas often good to hoar
Os love and mourning, of bliss and pain ;
But not ene heart's approval, not a tear,
Repaid me till 1 woke a noble strain.
Ones more, 0, blessed harp ! I’ll make thee ring,
And let my song of resignation be—
The peace that comet of holy suffering,
I sang, and all that listened wept with me.

Opinions of the Press.
“Musical Festivals’' several times postponed,
compelling purchasers of tickets to wait months
for the distribution, has impaired public confidence
n such affairs. The only fair system of distribn
tion is the old and popular one of Sealed Tickets,
stating the prize, which will be delivered immedi
ately, on payment of the one dollar. Tiiat is the
plan of 11. BARTON & CO., at 599 Broadway,
the most attractive place of the kind now in oper
ation. They are doing the largest business, and
deserve their success. I’on can not draw a
SIOO,OOO farm there, bnt have a reasonable chance
for a good prize, as we know many that have been
drawn, and the firm is reliable. —Morning Adver
tiser, Oct. 'loth , 1867.
The New Y'ork Gift Company are distributing
many valuable prizes. We have examined their
manner of doing business and know them to be a
fair deling firm. Their plan is more satisfactory
than “Presentation Festivals,“as they draw every
day, and the subscriber need not pay "for the prize
drawn, nnless suited.— Gazette, Oct. 2 \th, 1867.
The Gift establishment of H. Barton at Cos., at
599 Broadway, is daily attracting crowds of visi
tors to witness the drawing process. Tiie invest
ment is but 25 cents for tiie chance, and the prize
drawn, if satisfactory, is immediately delivered
for one dollar. A friend of oars, last week, drew
a $50(1 prize, which he promptly received.—Trans
cript, Sept. 29<4,1867.
