Dee't y«« be ofhfid h*j»,
To whistle load and loas,
Although your quiet tutor*
Should call H rude, or wrong.
Kan yoanalrat good-natured,
And If smiling fails,
Aok them If Ihnj arer aaw
Munlao on tbe quail* !
Or tha lovely red-rose
Try to hide bar flag,
Or the Jan* to tmothar all
Bar robing in a bag!
If thay say the teaching
Os natare im’t true,
Oat astride tha fence, boy;,
And answer with a, whew !
11l toll yon what it is, boys,
No water-wheel will spin
Unless yon sat a whistle
At the bead of every pin.
And never kite fly skyward
In triumph like a wing
Without the glsd vibration
Os a whistle in the string.
And whan tba days are vanished
For idleness and play,
'Twill make your labors lighter
To whistle care away.
So don’t you be afraid, boys,
In spite of bar and ban,
To whistle—it will help you each
To make an honest man.
