Lunacy.
On yesterday, a mau, giving his name as
Peter Laddie, was committed to jail, sus
pected of lunacy. All that could be ascer
tained from the unfortunate man was his
name.
Personal,
The Hon. Foster Blodgett, Mayor ol the
City, arrived at home on Saturday night, lie
is all serene—much to the regret of many of
bis friends (?) here, no doubt.
Sunday.
Well—we call things by their right
saacs if the weather was not hot enough
on Sunday last for Salamanders, we are not
judges of positive heat. One could almost
see the heat; as to feeling it, that was a sure
thing. Ice was very acceptable, and de
mand lively.
City Ordiiiauccan--Clog I'o.teU,
Almost daily at the Recorder’s Conrt,
defendants allege that they violate certain
tit? laws in ignorance. No doubt of it, but
tie legal maxim declares that ‘‘ignorance of
the law excuseth no man.” Just so—and
it are requested by the Clerk of Council to
state that any citizen can procure a copy of
tie City Ordinances (gratuitously) by apply
tag at his office, in tbe City Hall.

Street Affray.
A personal rencontre occurred yesterday
afternoon, near Centre street, between George
Rutherford and Janies Johnson, in which the
latter received several stabs from a knife
about the face and neck—none of which are
considered serious. Rutherford was subse
quently arrested, and tho affair will probably
undergo legal investigation to-day.
Our Street*.
There are several portions ot the streets of
our city—the side and middle drains o! the
“me—which, tor the benefit of the general
health, need prompt attention. Ponds of
stagnant green water are not unusual, and
alls for action on the part of tbe city
authorities. An ounce ol prevention is
forth a pound of cure, is as true now as
‘ben first uttered.

K. SE. IS. Uadway’s Itciuly Relief.
Is the cheapest and best family medicine
in the world. The moment it is used, pain
ceases. It cures rheumatism, neuralgia,
bilious rbolie, and inflammation of the kid -
neys, almost instantly. If seized with sudden
colds, coughs, influenza, diptherin, hoarse
ness, sore throat, chills, fever and ague,
mercurial pains, scarlet fever, etc., etc.,
take from four to six of Railway’s Pills, and
also take a teaspoonful of the Ready Relief
in a glass of warm water, sweetened with
sugar or honey ; bathe the throat, head and
chest with Ready Relief, (if ague or inter
mittent fever, bathe the spine also), in the
morning you will be cured.
How the Relief acts.—ln a few minutes
the patient will feel a slight tinging irrita
tion, and the skin becomes reddened ; if
there is much distress in the stomach, the
Relief will assist nature in removing the
offending cause—a general warmth is felt
throughout the entire body, and its diffusive
stimulating properties rapidly courses
through every vein and tissue of the system,
arousing the slothful aud partially paraly
zed glands and organs to renewed and
healthy action ; perspiration follows, and
the body feels increased heat. The sickness
at stomach, colds, chills, headache, oppress
ed breathing, thesorencss of the throat, mid
all pains, cither internally or externally,
rapidly subside, and the patient falls into a
tranquil sleep, awakes refreshed, invigor
ated, cured.
It will be found that in using tho Relief
externally, cither on the spine or across
the kidneys, or over the stomach and bowels,
that for several days after a pleasing
warmth will be felt, showing the length of
time it continues its influence over the
diseased parts.
Price of R. R. R. Relief, 50 cents per
bottle. Sold by druggists and country
merchants, grocers, etc.
See Had way’s Almanac for 1868.
