Gen. R. C. DRUM, A. A. G. FJLATFOKM. The National Republican party of the United Staten, assembled in National Convention, in the city of Chi cago, on the 20th day of May, 18tkS, make the following Declaration of Principles : Ist. We congratulate the country on the assured suc cess of the reconstruction policy of Congress, as evinced by the adoption, in a majority of the States lately hi rebellion, of Constitutions securing equal civil and political rights to all, aud regard it as. the duty of the Government to sustain those institutions, and to prevent the people of such States from being remitted to a state of anarchy. 2d. The guarantee, by Congress, of equal suffrage to all loyal men in the South was demanded by every con sideration of public safety, of gratitude and of justice, and must be maintained, while the question of suffrage in all the loyal States properly belongs to the people of those States. 3d. We denounce all forms of repudiation as a na tional crime, and the national honor requires the pay ment of the public indebtedness, in the utmost good faith, to all creditors, at home and abroad, not only according to the letter, but the spirit of the laws under which it was contracted. 4th. It is due to the labor of the nation that taxation should be equXUM and reduced as rapidly as the na tional faith will permit. sth. The national debt, contracted, as it has been, for the preservation of the Union for all time to come, should be extended over a fair period for redemption, and it is the duty of Congress to reduce the rate of in terest thereon, whenever it can honestly he done. 6th. That the best policy to diminish our burden of debt is to so improve our credit that capitalists will seek to loan us money at lower rates of interest than we now pay, and must eontinne to pay, so long as repudiation, partial or total, open or covert, is threatened or sus pected. 7th. The Government of the United States should be administered with the strictest’ economy, and the cor ruptions which have been so- shamefully nursed and fostered by Andrew Johnson call loudly for-radical re form. % Sth. We profoundly deplore the untimely and tragic death of Abraham Lincoln, and regret the accession of Andrew Johnson to the Presidency, who has acted treacherously to the people who elected him and the cause he was pledged to support ; has usurped high legislative and judicial functions; has refused to exe cute the laws; has used his high office to induce other officers to ignore and violate she taws; has his executive powers to render insecure the pfCperty, peace, liberty and life of the citizen; has abused the pardoning power; has denounced the National Legisla ture as unconstitutional; has persistently and corruptly resisted, by every measure in bis power, every proper attempt at the reconstruction of the States lately in re bellion; jias perverted the public patronage into an engine of wholesale corruption; and has been justly impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors, and properly pronounced guilty thereof by the vote of thirty-five Senators. • 9th. The doctrine of Great Britain and other European that because a man is once a subject, be is always so, must be resisted at every hazard by the United States, as a relic of the feudal time, not author ized by the law of nations, and at war with our national honor anilndependende. Naturalized citizens are enti tled to be protected in all their rights of citizenship! as though they were natural born, and no citizen of the United States, native or naturalized, must be liable to arrest and imprisonment, by any foreign power, for acts done, or words spoken, in this country, and if so arrested and imprisoned, it is the duty of the Government to interfere in his behalf. lOlli., Os all who were faithful in the tpalt- of Ihe late war, there were none entitled to more especial honor than the brave soldiers and seamen, who endured the hardships of the campaign and cruise, and fmperilled their Ilves in the service of the country. 'Hie bonntks and pensions provided by law for these brave defenders of the nation arc. obliagtions never to be forgotten. The widows and orphans of the galTant dead are the wards of the people, a sacred legacy bequeathed to the nation’s protecting care. 11 th. Foreign immigration, which in the past has added so much to the wealth, development of resources, and increase of power df this nation, the afiylum of the ■ oppressed of nil nations, should he fostered and encour aged by a liberal and Just policy. 12th. Tills Convention declares its sympathy with alt the oppressed people which arc struggling. for their rights. IN BANKRUPTCY. Asiatic Cholera in China. ALMOST EVERY CASE . CURED WITH PAIN KILLER. 0 Read the following letter from Rev. R. Telford. Missionary kt China, now visiting ilia home in Pennsylvania: Washington. Pa., June 25,1866. Messrs. Perry DarisA Son, Providence,R. 1.: Dear Sirs—During a residence, of some ten years as a Missionary in Siam and China, I found your vegetable Pain Killer a most valuable remedy for that fearful scourge, tlio Cholera. In administering the medicine. I found it most effectual to give a teaspoonfui of Pain Killer in a gill of hot water sweetened with sugar; then, after about fifteen minutes, begin to give a table spoonful ot the same mixture every minute until relief was obtained. Apply but applications to , the extrenrilies. Bathe the stomach with Pain Killer, clear and rub the limbs briskly. Ot those who had tbo cholera, and took the mediciue faith fully in the way slated above, eight out of ten recovered. Yours, truly. R TBJLFOBD. If an attack with Diarrlicea, Dysentery, or Cramp Colic, don’t delay the use of the Pain Killer. Sold by all medicine dealers Price, 25 cents, 50 cents, and SI per bottle. Manhattan, Kansas, April 17, 1866. Gentlemen— * • • I want to say a little more abont the Pain Killer. I cetisider it. a very valuable medicine, iinil always keep it on hand. I have travelled a good deal since 1 have been in Kansas, and never without taking it with me. In my practice I used it freely for the Asiatic Cholera, in 1819, and with better success than any other medicine ; I also used it here for cliolera iu 1855, with the same good result. Truly, yours, A. HUNTING, M. I). Swato, China. Cholcxa I * * * I regret to say that the cholera has prevailed here of late to" a fearful extent. For the last three weeks, from ten to fifty or sixty fatal cases each day has been re ported. I should add that die Paiu Killer, sent recently from the Mission House, bus been used with’ considerable success during this epidemic. If taken in season is generally affectaal in check ing the disease, Rev. CHARLES HAItDINIG, Shofapore, India. [From tlie Portland Monthly.] Summer Complaint and Dysentery. Bowel complaints seem just now to be the prevailing element, and any medicine that, is everywhere acceptable, and that is reliable, is a very desirable acquisition. From what we have seen, heard, and experienced, we believe Davis' Pain Killer is thia desideratum. For the best method of using it, we quote from tbc directions: “For common bowel complaints, give one tea spoonful in a gill of new milk and tnolireees. in equal pane, etiinxl well together; lessen the dose tor children, according to the ago. If the pain be severe, bathe the bowels aud back w;ith the medi cine. This mode of treatment Is gocsl in cases ol the cholera morbtfs. nuldeii stoppages, etc. Re peat tire dose every hour. "The quiekesl «ay 1 ever saw the dyseutgry cured was by taking one spoonful of the Pain Killer in one giß of milk and molasses stirred well together an* drank hot, at the same time bathing the bowels freely with medieiue. Ijet the dose be repealed every hour until the patient is relieved.'' If every person wljo has reason to fear this disease would provide themselves with a bottle of this medicine, and use as woasion required, we believe a great amount of mtfering and richness would be saved. je!2—2m Richmond County.
