Another Kci'Klnx Victim.
We have been shown a letter from Mr. T.
M. Allen, lately a colored member of -the
Georgia House of Representatives, in which
he says ; “I tamo very near being mur
dered on Friday night, the IGth instant.
The. K. K. K. came to my house and called
on me lor fire I told them there was no
Jin in mv house; but my brother-in-law
said he would give them a light, and on
opening the door with the light they fired
on him, and seven halls entered his body.
He died in fifteen minutes.”

Everybody, “and his wife,” whether
they reside near sal-water, in the mid
lands, or tar off ou tin: mountain’s brow,
loves oysters— vr ought io. At least, such
was our conclusion, yesterday, at lunch
time, while munching some of the richly
flavored mollusk, sent to our office by Mr.
Law Levy, of No. 136 Broad street. This
gentleman, we learn, has made arrange
ments by which the public may be supplied
throughout the season, from his store, with
fresh Savannah oysters, in every quantity
desired.

A How, an Explosion iindEossof Else.
We learn that, on Wedhesday last, a fight
occurred between two individuals at Perkins’
Mil’s, on the Savannah and Augusta Rail
road. During the process of the fight, the
engineer of the mill, becoming interested,
went out to see it, but. neglected .to extin
guish his fire. The fracas over (in which
oiu man had an ear bitten off) the engineer
returned to the mill and, finding the boiler
’ inpiy, turned in a fresh supply of water,
when the boiler blew up, instantly killing
Messrs. Wm. 11. Guy and John Purnell,
and totally demolishing the mill.

(her native State) Indiana and Ohio, as a
Lecturer of Tuuch ability, with'an agreeable
manner and distinct ■enunciation, and
“adapts her action and voice to the senti

The Milledgeville lederal Lhuoh of last
I utsday says that, on the Saturday previous,
a freedman traded one .hundred and fifty
dollars cash at one of the grocery and pro
vision houses in that city. This industrious
freedman, the editor says, will make over
twelve hundred dollarg clear profit on hi*
crop, which has -been cultivated wholly by
his own family this year. We would be glad
• o know that more of our colored citizens
"ere on the same high road to fortune ; but
assure them that they can never -attain to
this man's success unless they go manfully
to work, as he has done.

What Republican cannot answer this
question in the affirmative 1 If you cannot,
register at once. Don’t procrastinate. Pro
crastination is the thief of time. You may
be sick to-morrow, or next week. Without
a certificate of registration, you can neither
vote for Mayor or member of Council. You
are all vitally interested in the municipal
election. A lot of hungry Democratic ox
officials are now greedily waiting to get hold
of the city, so that they can crush every
Republican in the city, or who has ever
expressed any sympathy fur our party. They
may wheedle and talk smooth us oil, but
that is their ultimate object. You have the
power to defeat and destroy their mischievous
schemes; but to do that, you must register.
Remember, that if you have, resided in the
State one year and in the city for six months,
you are a voter. You know whether or not
AngustaJs your home. You may have been
temporarily away. There are few persons
who have not been temporarily absent from
the city during the past year, under some
pretext or another. We do not desire any
Republican to attempt to register, who does
not feel himself fully entitled to register
under the law. But if ytfii feel yourself
entitled Io vote, the fir., I step necessary is, to
register.

Accident at Sea.
We learn from the Savannah A’e.'i-., that,
at daylight on Wednesday morning last,
Mr. James Paty, Second Mite.of the
steamer City Point,, while superintending
the weighing of the anchor, near Tybee,
had his leg caught in the cable, which so
ntangled it as to Cause his death in a few
hours. Mr. Pity was about 25 years of
age, and leaves a widowed mother and tiro
sisters, in Charleston, S. C.

Veracity.
And no man, nor any sot of men, however
high they may be placed by the suffrages of
their fejlow-citizens, can expect to receive
the support of this great conservative party
ou any revolutionary attempt against the
established laws.-ilemgeralic Notional Com

Compare this with Blair’s letter, written
with a view of’seeuriog the nomination for
Vice President, ami which did secure him
that nomination :
. “There is but one way to res(pre the Gov
ernment and the £oi)stitution ; and that is,
for the President eleH to declare the Heron
struetibn Acts null and void, compel the
army to undo its usurpations at the South,
disperse the carpcl-Lag State (.'ovcrnmcnls,'’
etc., etc., ad naus-um.
That is a fair s|>eeinien of Democratic ve
racity.
Impudence.
The ballot-box, and the supreme will of
the American people, are the only (means of
redress to which we look.— Democratic Na
tional Committee.
Compare this quotation with the choice
sayings of Frank Blair :
* * * The (loint to which I desire
to bring you is this: That in this struggle
we have everything at stake ; that it is the
final and last struggle for the preservation of
free, constitutional governinent in America;
that if we fail in it, the Republie fails with
us, [A voice -“No suck word as fail.”| It
becomes a mere appendage of the military
chieftain, who is lilted to power in the tianre
of the President, who never will leave the.
Presidential mitnsi >n alive,- -Blair's Speech,

\ That is a fair . peeiincn of Democratic im
pudence.
Ben. Hit.i, Returned.—Crazy B«t>. Hill
has returned to his home in Athens. Woti
der if lit; stilt advises the wives of Repub
licans to quit them ? We learn Ben. gives
up tlie fight, and says the Democratic party
has gone head long to hell .. Well, Boa,
was the lender of tho late Democracy and
ho ought to know all about the factsTn the
case. It is reasonable to suppose that he
should want couqtany on his way to tb.e
warm climate to which he says his party
has gone. He will not be far behind.- At
