These are all well known merchants, who
are experienced in their line of business,
and always keep such stocks of goods as
will enable thorn to supply, at all times, the
wants of their customers, at low rates.
A Good Thing.— We think we de
serve some credit. YVe have made a good
many people, who never before read the
Scriptures, open their Bibles. YVe told them
on tho Ist instant to look for the 16th verse
of tho 21#t chapter of First Samuel, and
they would bo astonished. M’oll, so they
were; they were astonished to find that
thero was no 16th verse to that chapter.
But it is to he hoped that they did not
stop there. They may have found some
thing to interest them, and perhaps benefit
them, morally at least, and if so, why we
have done some good, and given our readers
a little amusement withal.
Riciikoxd County Inferior Court.
—This Court was in session yesterday
morning. Messrs. Matt. Shcron, Tax Re
ceiver, and John A. Bolder, Tax Collector,
were qualified, and will, we suppose, com
mence their duties at an early day. Uufor
tuuate people who own any property, pre
pare to shell out “on the part of the State"
now.
Body Found. — The body of Mr.
Benj. Caldwell, who. it will be remembered,
was drowned from the steamer Express, ot
the Wharf a few weeks ago, was found some
distance down the river yesterday, and an
inquest held upon it. The verdict of the
Jury was in accordance with the facts,
which have already been given.
Potatoes and Cheese. —Two gifts
of nature to man of no small importance.
There’s no blockado now, so let us indulge
while wo can. J. G. Bailie A Bro. offer
these articles for sale cheap. After you
finish on cheese and potatoes, if musically
inclined, you can test a piano, a very supe
rior instrument, to be found with the same
gentlemen, at 205 Broad street.
For Sale.—The attention of house
keepers and others in need of furniture,
is directed to an advertisement in another
column. A fine milch cow is also for sale.
Those in need of such things would do well
to call immediately at the Daily Press
office.
Oysterh.— A fresh arrival of New
York Oysters, fine, fat and fresh, is an
nounced in auother column by YVm. Hale
(colored), to be sold cheap to close them
out. Also, a splendid lot of apples. Those
who love such good things should call on
him, on Washington street, near Broad.
The Registry List.—The Registry
List closed at 2 o’clock P. M. yesterday.
The total number registered is 1,619 —the
largest number ever registered in this city.
Richmond County Superior Court.
The Superior Court of this County will
meet on Monday next.
The Weather.—Sunday and yester
day were beautiful Spring like days, warm,
genial, and vcgetatablc.
Davis’ Pain Killer.—The Editor of
the Christian Advocate, says : “It is a real
pleasure to us to speak favorably of this
article, known almost universally to he a
good and safe remedy for burns and other
pains of tho body. It Is valuable not only
for colds in the winter, but for various sum
mer complaints, and should be in every
family."
Tho Salem Observer, says : “No article
of modicine ever attained to such unbounded
popularity and ox tensive diffusion. It has
peuetrated to every port, even the most re
mote. of the known world, bearing with it
its healing influences more potent than
those of the spices of “Araby the blessed. *
Wo are informed by our principal druggists,
that they sell more of this article for ex
portation than of any or all other#, and
that the demand is constantly increasing."
Rev. James C. Boomer, says: “I have
used Terry Davis’ Pain Killer with great
success in cases of cholera infantum, com
mon bowel complaint, bronchitis, cough. l ,
colds, Ac., and would cheerfully rccommeuu
it as a valuable family medicine."
Rev. J. G. Stearns, says : “I consider it
tho best remedy T ever knew for dyspepsia."
Rev. Edward X. Fuller, says; “I have
witnessed the beneficial effects of your Pain
Killer iu cases of dysentery and cholera
morbus, within a few months past, ar-.d
would cheerfully recommend its me to such
as may be suffering from similar diseases, a
a ea/e and effertnaf remedy."
Stolen.—A reward of twenty-five
dollars is offered for a grey horse, blind in
the right eye, stolen from the premises of
Mr. Win. O’Dowd, twelve miles from Black
well. For particulars see advertisement.
Ten Dollars Reward. —Any one
finding a stolen horse, described in another
column, will receive tho above reward by
returning said horse to Jeremiah Hurst,
Mcßean, Ga.
Important Recovery.— Through the
energy of the Chief of Police and County
Constable, the stolen property of the Chris
tian Church has been recovered. Too much
praise cannot be awarded these officers for
their efficiency.
