Com. Liverpool weekly cotton circular, of
the 27th ult., from which wo extract the
following: w*.
Activity continued to mark the earlier
days of the week, when a Urge business was
r* ported at advanced prices; but during the
past two or three days, the trade buying
ime s uiewliat slackened, causing the mar
ket to assume a dull appearunco, witb a
decline of id. to j I. per lb. from the prices
previously reached, and leaving present
quotations ol the middling and better quali
ties sd. per lb. dearer than la-t week’s. Or
dinary grades show no change in value.
For Sea Island, the enquiry though still
small, has been rather betior. Prices nomi
nally are unaltered, but irregular, and
have ad wnward tendency. Really fine
qualities are firmly held.
The estimated sales of the week show a
total of 115,550 hales, of which exporters
took 24,470, speculators, 10,370, leaving
rt 0.710 for the trade. The relative propor
tions of American cotton comprised iu thoso
sales were 8,560, 5,320, uud 25,050.
