The Daily South Carolinian.—
This excellent journal, we aro pleased to
notice, bas been recently enlarged apd im
proved. Under the able management of
T. G. DeFontalnc—better known perhaps as
“Parsonne,” tho groeoful and graphic war
correspondent of the Charleston Courier —the
South Carolinian must prosper and grow
great. It certainly has our best wishes. We
must not omit to mention that it is published
in Columbia, 8. C.
We find iu it, also, tho following ou a
subject upon which we have bad somewhat
to say in times agone—Sunday papers :
9 Tub Sunday £oi'th Carolinian.—Here
after we shall publish a {Sunday edition of the
Carolinian as was done during tho war.
Editors and printers have as much right to
enjoy the rest ami dandify of the Holy
Sabbath, as other sinners; our work being
completed on Saturday night, the office will,
therefore, be closed until the following Mon
day morning. There may be some in the
community who object to the appearance of
a secular paper ou Sunday, but we respect
fully submit that they have no right to
draw on the conscience and labor of men
who have an equal regard for tho holy
duties of the Lord’s day. There is less sin
reading a high toned newspaper on the
Sabbath, prepared iu advance, than iu
perusiug even a Bible, the preparation of
which, has necessitated a disobedience of
the divine command.
