by a miserable wretch.
Roll on, thou boll, roll ou 1 •
Through pathlcaf realms of spue*
Roll on!
What though I’m in a sorry ease?
What though I cannot moot my bills ?
What though I suffer toothache’s ills?
What though I swallow countless pills?
Never you mind 1
Roll on 1
Roll on, thou ball, roll on !
Through seas of inky air
Roll on 1
It’s true I’ve no shirts to wear;
It's true my butcher’s bill is due,
It's true my prospects all look blue—
But don’t lot that unsettle you !
Never you mind 1

The Mobile News say a an artist in
that city painted a dog so natural that
the animal had the hydrophobia during
the hot weather. He’s the same man,
says the Portland Press, who painted a
copy of a beer bottle with such skill that
the cork flew out just as he was linish
ing it. And after lie was married, he
painted a picture of his first baby so
life like that it cried, and his wife
spanked it before she discovered her
mistake.
—A California paper says a large
lake has been discovered in that State,
from the waters of which can be ob
tained a large quantity of boras with
out much trouble, and in a State of
almost absolute purety. Considering
the fact that the world is now dependent
on the lagoons of Tuscany for its borax,
and the contingency that this foreign
supply may at any time be cut off, this
discovery is of no little importance.
—A London victualler took a pigeon
with him to the Derby races, in order
to send home the names of the first
three horses in the race. The little
messenger took the news home in just
fourteen minutes, travelling about a
mile a minute.
—The splendid ship Monarch of the
Sea, from Liverpool for New York,
with 700 passengers on board, is nearly
50 days over due, and fears are enter
tained for her safety.
—President Johnson has subscribed
$5,000 toward the new Metropolitan M.
E. Church in Washington.
