SATURDAY MOKNUTO.»--.-J»*_y 2l » 1868
_ [From.the Louisville Courier.]
■| my first love.
BY WA I. LACK OBOKLLB.
“I love you,” she said, end her guileless
soul
Shone in her tender eyes,
'Whose dark depths reflected tho stars that
glowed
Above us in the skies.
I pressed a warm kiss on her forehead fair,
An 1 clasped her to my heart,
And I vowed by all yon luminous worlds,
We never more should part.
The years sped by and I became a man,
And she a woman fair;
Costly silks enveloped her form,
Rich gems flashed in her hair;
And she reigned the queen of the rout and
ball,
Where 1 could enter not,
And the love and kiss and passionate vow
Were by both, I woen, forgot.
And she queens it now in her palace halls,
With servants at command,
And a loftier, prouder, and vainer dame
Lives not in all the land;
While I’m a dweller in a cottage home,
Beside a lowly hearth,
With my wife and childron, and health and
hope—
The happiest man on earth.

Roofing.
LOOK TO YOUR ROOFS.
Having secured the state
RIGHT OF THE
PATENT MICA ROOFING,
Wc aro now prepared to supply it in any
quantity, or to apply it to Roofs.
The MICA ROOFING is adapted to build
ings of every description, and can be ap
plied to Steep or Flat Roofs, or over old
Shingle Roofs, without removing the shin
gles. We recommend its use on Factories,
Foundries, Store Houses, Cotton Sheds,
Railroad Depots and upon all buildings
where steam is used, and a Fire Proof re
quired.
It costs about one-half the prico of
Tin.
It is cheap, durable, and is easily and
quiekly applied. The upper surface of the
Roofing is proteoted from tbo action of the
weather, by its covering of Ground Mica,
which is pressed into the water proof com
position, making a hard surface of stone,
beautiful in appearance, and a suro protec
tion against fire.
We shall also keep constantly on hand a
upply of
INDIA-RUBBER ROOFING PAINT,
which is the best coating that can be used
for Tin Roofing. Leaky Tia Roofs can bo
readily repaired, so as to last many years,
at a trifling cost, which would in many
cases save the expenso of anew Roof.
Full directions tor applying, and prices,
sent on application.

CHOLERA.
A CERTAIN CURE
For this Disease may he
found in the use of
PERRY DAVIS’
VEGETABLE
JPain JKiller,
St. Louis, Mo., June 14, 1849.
Mr. A T. \\ r oodtoard, Agent of Perry Davis*
Pain Killer :
Dear Sir : I feci it a duty I owe to the
public, to make known the value of Perry
Davis’ Pain Ivillor, and my experience in
using it for some of the complaints for
which it is highly recommended. In April
last, on your recommendation, I purchased
a one dollar bottle of you for pains with
which I have long been afflicted, and made
use of it on my trip down to New Orleans,
with tho most gratifying and beneficial
effects. On my return to this city, the
Cholera made its appearance among some
of my passengers. I made use of the Pain
Killer, having uo other remedy on board,
and, to my surprise and gratification, found
it gave immediate relief! On my arrival
in St. Louis, I called on you and got four
large bottles, and stated to you my confi
dence in it as an infallible Cholera remedy,
and remarking to you that I wanted no
other Cholera remedy on my boat. I made
use of tho four bottles on my trip to New
Orleans and back, for Cholera and some
other complaints for which it is recom
mended, and met with the most astonishing
success ; when I ordered from you six more
one dollar botiles. Since then I have
made two more trips to New Orleans and
back; aLd on my previous trip up I had
moro than
SEVFaNTY CASES OF CHOLERA
on board, when tho PAIN KILLER was
immediately used with the most astonishing
results. In all cases where it was used in
time, it gave relief in a very short time;
and I can, with confidence, say to tho pub
lie, that in all the first stages of Cholera,
when taken in time, it is, in my opinion, an
infallible remedy! and after a fair trial
with it for several weeks, and lor four
trips to New Orleans and back, and using
it for Cholera and other complaints for
which it is recommended, no consideration
whatover would iuducc mo to leave port
without a good supply—believing it to be a
medicine that no officer of a boat or any
family would be without a single day after
using one bottle; believing it to bo the
most valuable family medicino known to
the world for all the different complaints
for which it is recommended.
P. S.—Please send me six large bottles
for this trip.
J. M. Droadwell,
Captain Steamer Adriatic.
I most cordially unite with Capt. Broad
well in rccommendiug Perry Davis's Pain
Killer to the public, having myself been
severely attacked with the Cholera, and
found relief in a few hours by using the
Pain Killer, ami have myself administered
it to more than fifty persons attacked with
the Cholera, and when used in time, a cure
was effected in a few hours, and take pleas
ure in recommending it to the public as an
invaluable medicine, that no individual
should bo without a single hour.
J. F. Boffington,
Clerk Steamer Adriatic.
Davis’ Pain Killer.— ln to-day's Union
will be found an advertisement of this cele
brated remedy. The certificates appended
from the captain and clerk of the steamer
Atlantic wo know to be genuine, and
founded on facts, as they verbally stated in
our office the substance of what they pub
lish. — St . Louis Union .
