The Meteoric Shower. —This grand

It was visible in England, ahd in this
country in New York, New Haven,

"cloudy weather prevented a fiil view of
it in those cities.

we find the following:
“In the British Court of Admiralty on
the 2d, before Dr. Lushiugton, the

seized for tne United States of America,

and were now detained within the juris

vessels are the property of a merchant
named Prioleau, and are stated to be

Death of an Actress. —Mrs. Mary
Taylor, formerly Mary Taylor Ewen, the
popular actress, died in New York on
Saturday last. She was married in 1851
to Mr. Ogilvie Owen, a New York
merchant, and left the stage never to

Taylor was in her day.
