I Kot'PK. — This wonderful troupe of
juveniles have concluded their first
week in our City, and have won the
popular approval. They arc truly ex
traordinary, and well worthy of the
patronage of the public. Jii addition
to their histrionic attainments they are
good musicians, and discourse some ex
cellent music—the brass band perform
ing in trout of the Hall every evening.
When the ages of the children is taken
into consideration, they become real
wonders. To morrow (Monday) eve
nihg, they will perform, tor the first
time in this City, the fairy spectacle of
“The Mountain Sylph,'' an attraction
which should secure a full house for

Death ok Bishop Ei.i.iott.—The
whole Christian community were shock
ed yesterday, on hearing of the awfully
sudden death of the great Episcopal
Bishop. His loss will be deplored over
the whole country, ns his name was as a
household word in every Episcopal fam
ily in the land.
The Charleston Courier of yesterday
says: “At a late hour last night the
telegraph brought us the painful intelli
gence of the sudden demise of this
eminent Prelate at Savannah, Georgia.
He had just returned from a brief visit
to the interior in the discharge of his
Episcopal '.unctions.
He left the cars in apparently perfect
health, and soon ntler reaching his
residence, expired; doubtless from he irt
disease.
This sad announcement comes upon
us in all its suddenness wit h a most
depressing effect.
South Carolina will weep, not only
with her sister Georgia, where the Dio
cesan labors of the deceased were so
long and so signally exercised, but with
the whole South, in the removal of a
Prelate, learned, apostolic, abounding in
good works, known, revered and loved,
throughout the length and breadth ot
our land.
An erudite and ripe scholar—a fin
ished and most impressive pulpit orator
—a master of “English undctilcd''—a
patriot son, whose affection for his
native land welled out from fountains
hoiy as a mother's love, and with aim
ami end lofty as became a night of the
Cross—all these will lie unshrouded in
the grave which closes forever from
mortal sight, the loved and gifted Elliot.

regard to >ny Oil, 1 will state that
there is not one word of truth in his
whole article, and that his statement

principle® of a gentleman would make.
I defy his boasted proof's, and will
guarantee my vtil to he as good in all
respects as any offered in this City.
