AUGUSTA, MARCH 19.—Cotton.—The decrease
in tlie receipts of cotton at Augusta and Hamburg, are
daily becoming more evident, und from all tho infor
mation we gather, we do not believe that over 90,000
baleB will be received in both places after this date.
The business of our city, fur the week past, has
been very moderate—the sales not exceeding 1500
bales, at prices ranging from Ilf. Mastodon brought
12, and Nunkeen 15 cents.
MOBILE, MARCH 14.—Cotton. — The market
was again quiet tc-day, and the demand limited to
some buyers for France and the North. The subs
are only 5 a 600 bales, but holders offer loss, and
prices are well maintained. Quotations range from
10 to Ilf cents.

The River is now rapidly rising, owing to
the immense quantity of rain which lias (alien

A pi-iva e letter of the same dote, received
in this city says:
The River has been rising for the last three
days, and this afternoon it is within six feet of
the freshet of May, 1840. The buck part of
the 'own of Ila nburg is under water, and it is up
into one or two of our streets. The wharves are
entirely covered, and it is thought that it will
become neeessmy to remove goods from the
wharf-stores. It is still rising, though perhaps
not so fast as two hours ago. It presents a
grand sight. Goods had to lie removed from
some of the stores at Hamburg yesterday af
ternoon. If the rise should be l wo or thro

■will be overflown. The merchants feel rather
uneasy. Yours.
