1 CHARLESTON. March 20.—Cotton.—The Up

without any material change, or if any, perhaps n
shade easier than oil the day previous. The sales
footed 413 bales, at from 10* to 121.
CHARLESTON, March 20.—The transactions in
Cotton yesterday reached near 1000 bales, at prices
dccidedlv in favor of purchasers. The sales are as
follows : 94 bales at 10*; 9 nt 10|; 42 at 101; 352

AUGUSTA, Mnrch 21.—On Tuesday, sales of about
600 bales were made, at an advance of * to *c. Yes
terday holders still asked the advance of the day be
fore, and the telegraphic accounts of the New-York,
Charleston and Savannah markets not being consid
ered good, there was not much sold, and purchases
were made at little easier prices. The receipts con
tinue very light .
Fbeiohts.—Our river has fallen about 10 feet, and
is still going down. The rise reached in all about 2-3
feet, and was within 7 feet of the freshet of 1840.
Very little Cotton shipped to Bavahnali or Charleston.
NEW-ORLEANS, March 19.—(By Telegraph.)—
Middling Cotton is selling nt 10* cents. Freights and

Money Matters, Trade, See.
The exports of specie from New York, from Janu

255. The exports of merchandise during January
and Februry, reached $5,847,742, against $4,80^724
utine time last year—being an increase of 25 per cent.,
which has had the tendency to increase the supply of
Bills of Exchange, the rates of which are dull and
tending in favor of the United States. We quote :
Bills on London, 108 a 108*, and Francs 5,29 a 5,32*.
There, however, is little or no movement as yet for
the steamer “Canada,” which sailed on Wednesday.
The Philadelphia Bulletin, of Saturday evening,
says :
"Money continues abundant, and the Banks are dis
counting all the good paper that is ottered. The
out of door rates for first class paper are 6 a 7 per
cent., and second class 7* to 10. The amount of spe
cie in the vaults of the Banks at present is much
larger than usual.”
