MORNING NEWS.
Astounding if True.—We are informer!
t! at there will shortly be brought before the
public a new locomotive, • in which the require
ments of either steam, fire, air or wat^r, vvill
be dispensed with; its power of traction, while
efil-cted, will he perfectly safe; by it one-half
at least of tho present woilying expenses will
1)0 saved. Advocates of universal,.pence look
forward with hope; this agent !viU exert n pow
erful influence on all nations. Distant parts
of tho world, where steam strips, from tho ex-
penseof fuel, have not been, willsoonlie reach
ed with facility. This motive power will ad
vance all nations by n larger stride than ever
steam has yet made.—London "•.Milting Journal.
Curious Incident.— Last, night, about 11 o’
clock, some persons who wero passing tho jVleth-
oilist, church on Poydras street, were attract
ed by some sounds within the upper part of
the church, whioli appeared to be the cries of
• children. A laddorbeing*ohtaioed, was placed
upon the side of the building on Cnroudelet
street, and some men ascended, and forcing
upon the window, entered the galleries of the
church. Listening there, they heard the dis
tant cry of two children, enquiring, apparently,
fur their parents. A light was struck, and the
church searched, and there sure enough, in the
galleries, were found two little girls, the oldest
being about nine. They said they had come to
the church withtthoir nurse, had gone to sleep,
and waking up found that they were in the dark
und shut up; they then commenced to cry for
their mamma. The little deserted ones were
taken homo by some kind gentleman, with a
view of being returned to their parents, whoso
names we could not learn.—N. O. Delta.
Niggers attending Concerts.—A correspon
dent informs us that ho saw at the Hutchinson
'.concert lust night, a sootty black negro in com
pany with two white females. Well, what of
it? The Hutchinsons are roaring, ranting
Abolitionists of the Garrison and Wendell Phil
lip’s school, who go for breaking up the Union,
destroying Church connections, und everything
else that stands in the way of abolishing slave
ry. Why should’nt their followers practice a
little amalgamation ?—N. Y. Day Boole.
