Savannah Cotton Market, April 29.
COTTON.—On Saturday the sales were only 10J
bales, viz: 96 at 1113-16, and 6 at 12 cents. Opera
tors waiting the steamer’s accouute.
CHARLESTON, April 27.—The total receipts of
the week amount to 22,513 bales, making a grand
total since 1st Sept, to the latest dates, of 1,806,526
bales, against 2,390,249 bales the same time last year,
and 1,944,208 bales the year previous.
The transactions yesterday were limited to 400
bales, at prices ranging from llj to 12}c. The tran
sactions were too limited to establish the market, and
prices for the present are nominal.
CHATTANOOGA, April 24.—Our market remains
quite dull; we have heard of no operations since our
last, worth recording. Holders of Flour and Bacon,
refuse to take less than our quotations, and persons
disposed to purchase those articles on speculation, de
cline to purchase at these prices.
We quote Bacon, 4 {c hog round ; plenty. Coffee,
15c per lb by the sack; Corn, 45c per bushel; Coni
Meal, 50c per bushel; Flour, $5 a 86 per bbl, plenty
und dull.
There is again a heavy flood in Tennessee River ;
it lias risen about 16 feet plumb water, since Sunday
liiorniug last, and was still rising when our paper
went to press.
ATLANTA.—April 26.—Transactions in cotton yes'
terday were heavier than for some time previous -
The receipts of the day amounted to about 175 bales-
Principal sales at 10$ to lljc. A few sales at 12c.
Com sella at 60c; Meal 65; Oats 35 ; Bacon 5$ a
6; Lard 7c.
AUGUSTA, April 27.—Our Cotton market lias been
quiet for the past two days. Holders are offering their
stocks very sparingly, and buyers are not anxious,
preferring to wait further accounts, now hourly look
ed for. Sides to-day 500 bales at prices last quoted,
The deficiency of the crop, as received by mail and
telegraph, now reaches 581,998 bales.
Freights—Some of our steumbout companies are
now currying cotton to Savannuh, at 25 c. pr bale.
MOBILE, April 23.—The authenticity of the tclej
graph news being considered somewhat doubtfu
this moru’ug, the market was quiet. Later in the
day, however, several despatches were received con-
firmiug the first which led to a better inquiry, result
ing in sales of 12 u 1500 bales at full prices.
Money Matters* Trade* &c.
NEW Y’ORK, April 24.—There is more demand
for money this week and the rates are a little up.
The jobbers are a good deal disappointed in receiving
remittances from the west, and many of them are hi
tlie market ns borrowers. We see some good job
bers’ paper in the hands of brokers to be sold at one
per cent, a month.
Dry Goods.—This branch of trade is suffering
greatly from tlie fall in domestic goods as well as em
igration to California, in the euriy part of tlie sea
son the jobbers went into tho market and bought
largely of heavy cotton goods on speculation. Prices
were high uud the speculation in cotton induced the
belief that there would be a ecarcity of heavy goons
which would enable purchasers at tlie then ruling pri
ces to obtain a large profit on their stocks before the
season was over. Tune has shown that these calcu
lations were not well made, and instead of soiling
their coarse goods, bought in January at a profit, they
are now urging them off' at great sacrifice. Prims
have fallen nearly 20 per cent., brown goods uliout
12$, heavy summer stuff from 13 to 20 per. cent, and
domestic woollens about 10 per cent; with large stocks
in the hands of jobbers who cannot afford to hold them
over a dull season.
Foreign Goods are also on the decline. Tile late
arrivals have brought into the market goods enough
lor a whole seasons business, und the auction rooms
are crowded with goods and no purchasers, for the
jobbers do not want any more at auy price, and re
tailers ore only able to Duy as fast as they spll.
The camel's hair shawl sales took place on Tues
day morning, at Niblo’s ball-room. The prices struck
us’as very low, ranging in the neighborhood of one
hundred dollars. Many sold as low as fourteen or
fifteen dollars. Few or none of the shawls were pur
chased by ladies, all going into the possession of the
merchants. Many ol those present were from the
Southern States.
There is a moderate demand tor land warrants, and
we quote $123 a $125. The inquiry is entirely spec
ulative.
NEYV Y'ORK, April 25.—Large sales of Coffee—The
tale of Rio Coffee this morning was well attended,
and the bidding lively. Of the 4800 bags offered, be
ing the balance of the cargo of the ship Mario, und
the importation of the ship Agnes, 4536 were sold iu
vuriouslots, ranging in the extremes, from 7} to 9$c.
BALTIMORE, April 24.—At Auction to day 600
bags Rio Green Coffee, 1600 sold at 9$ a 10$ (balance
wtthdrawh.)
Sales early tills morning of 400 barrels Howard-
street Flour at 85; afterwards 1600 barrels at $5,06$,
and later 1590 barrels at $5,12$, all for export—the
market dosing firm at these figures. No sales City
Mills. Held at $5,25. Sales 300 bbls. Susquehan

that attends the pains in the parta affected; Becond,

Rheumatism generally terminates into one of these
and becomes a chronic complaint.
