,' i r | )US iness of our city is rapidly on the in-
e !in d scarcely a week passos without
1 rgc exports. Tho quality of our lumber is
" ,-misied, and it is owing to this fact that
unsuips’'- , , .
the demand from abroad is steadily increasing
from year to year. _____
h'jmii Havana.—The schooner Midas, Capt.
Cakdnshi arrived at our port on Saturday,
Irom Havuf.*, having sailed on Saturday, 27th
ult.
W'o are indebted to a commercial house of
this city, far tho fi)lln L %jiif extracts of a letter,
dated Havana, Apr' Wceived per schooner
Midas: ' I . - >
The schooner Gen. Boyd, from Savannah,
brought a cargo of ltice which sold at 11J.
The advance is owing to more demand, as the
authorities havo ordered a /larger quantity of
llico to bo provided for tho troops, owing to
apprehensions in regard to tho Cholera.
This disease has appeared, however, in a
mild form, and seems to be on the decline.
We hear of very few cases, and but a small
proportion of them prove futul. As ltice is
expensive, its use among the troops will, no
no doubt, bo confined to tho customary quan
tity, so soon ns circumstances permit.
Tho Shipping Intelligence will -be found
under its appropriate head.
rip - A AVashingion letter wiiter says that
more than one hundred thousand copies of
Senator Seward’s speech on the slavery ques
tion, havo been printed at the National Era of
fice, in that city, and all the orders are not yet
filled.

Styllingia.
'PHIS preparation is a Concentrated Extract, con-
" tabling all the Active Medical Properties of the
Conyzn, (commonly known as Black Root,) and the
dtvilingia, or Queen's Delight.
These plants have been long used among our South
ern Negroes, and recently by the Medical Profession,
with tile happiest results, in cases of Chronic Rheu
matism, Ulcers of long standing, and Secondary
Syphilis. It is much superior to any preparation of
Sarsaparilla as an alterative, being more active and
Prompt in its operation on the system. These facts
have induced the subscribers to present to the atten
tion of Physicians a fluid extract prepared strictly ac
cording to Chemical and PaYmacentical science, de
void of nil tile feculent and inert parts of the roots,
not doubting that it will supersede the unscientific and
crude preparations hitherto used.
