The Farewell.—By Thomas Hood.
I To a French Air.]
Fare thee well,
Gabrielle I
Whilst I join France,
With bright cuirass and lance I
Trumpets swell,
Gabrielle I
War horses prance,
And cavaliers advance 1
In the night.
Ere the tight,
lathe night,
'i’lfSiiuk of thee I
And in prayer,
Lady fair 1
In thy prayer,
rhen, think of me!
Then, I
Death may knell,
Gabrielle 1
Where my plumes dance.
By arquebuse or lance 1
Then farewell,
Gabrielle I
Take my Inst glance,
Fair miracle of France I

TEA CULTIVATION IN THE U. STATES.
H AVING received a small supply of TEA NUTS,
collected ut great expense of tneney and labor,
in the middle districts of China, from the most, cele
brated Tea 11 mtations of tho Empire, 1 am prepared
to fulfil my i ngagements by accommodating tlie pub
lic with a .hard of the Nuts received. My main ob
ject i- to plant and cultivate; but na I am quite cer
tain thnt 1 have obtained, niter the labor of three
years, the best quality of Tea tu s, I a— disposed to
meet the wishes o. the public, nnd to share tbem
with others.—TeaNuts gathered in the neighborhood
of-Canton ar, scarcely worth cultivating, on account
of the inferior quality of the Ten. It is obviously the
interest of the planter to submit to'un increased ex
pense, to secure a supe.ijr quality of Tea Nut, in es
tablishing a Tea Plantation, vih titer large or : in all.
In prosecuting this ardui u undertaking, I am in
fact acting as an agent for the benefit of tlie public.
Neither tlie State, the public, or nny individual, has
ever extendi d to me the aid of a single cent.
For convenience and security, the Nuts will bo
packed In tinboxep. and forwarded from Greenville,
S. C., by such ci nvevance nnd t j such address as the
purchaser may < i ect, to any part ol the U. States.
TEA PLANTS—now on their piisragefrom China,
selected with a singl" eye to quality, by a gentleman
of large expeiiencr inhorticuhural pursuits, and pr
imps better arquii nted with the character of the Tea
Plant, than any pen on in Europe or America—wilt
also be shared with those desirous of obtaining a
small supply.
A spec-mention of tlie soil bestadnpted to the growth
of the plant, the mode of planting, cultivating, Ac.
Ac., will accompany each parcel.
Application should be made (post-paid) to the sub
scriber.
