Opinion.-* of the Press.
I f 11E Louisville Journal says: “Dr. Rogers’ Liver-
. wort and Tar not only gives immediate relief
in Coughs and Colds, hut, from the testimony of men
of the highest standing here and olscwhere, it is mak
ing some very remarkable cures in Consumption.”
The ltailieny Register adds : “ We have heard it sln-
d hy persons of great respectability, who have used
this medicine, that it is one of the most, remarkable
medicines of the age, for Coughs, Colds, Influenza,
Bronchitis, Asthma,’ Fain in the Side and Breast, .'-’pit
ting of Blood, Whooping Cough, and all Lung Com
plaints ; which, if neglected, usually terminate in Con
sumption; and the certificates attached to the adver
tisements would seem to justify tins statement."
Liverwort.
This plant has for many years been found to he oi
singular virtue in the cure of affections of the Liver.
More recently it was ascertained that it possessed
great power m arresting bleeding at the lungs, coughs
of a chronic character, etc., and of essential Bef vice in
all diseases of u pulmonary character.
Tar.
This article is now universally acknowledged to he
the most healing and efficient application for diseased
or decaying lungs,or any portion of the fleshy or unis
ultir parts of the human body. Its medieinid and
ireservative qualities were understood hy (lie Egyp
tians in the early ages of the world, and no doubt now
ts among seientifle men, thut the preparation used
in the embalmment of bodies, was composed princi-
tally of this ingredient, in later ages it was found to
ie in universal useamong the aborigines of America,
and id ibis day it is their principal and, in fact, only
medicine fur an unsound state of the lungs, or any
approach Sit Those who arts acquainted with the
history of this hardy race of men, know that a death
from Consumption is iinknowiAamong them! The
medical faculty in nil countries appear to have be
come aware of the great liealiag properties of this
article, und are now introducing it in their practice.
Dr. Buchan, of England; Dr. Crichton, of 8t. Peters
burg; Dr. La Prieure.of Paris; mid the distinguished
Dr. Cooper, have been in the habit, of combining it.
with other articles in their prescriptions, und with
entire success.

TEA CULTIVATION IN THE uThTATES.
H AVING received a small supply of TEA NUTS,
collected at great expense of money and labor,
in the middle districts of china, from the most cele
brated Tea Plantations of the Empire, I am prepared
to fulfil my engagements by accommodating the pub
lic with u share of the Nuts received. My main ob
ject is to plant and cultivate; but as I am quite cer
tain that I have obtained, after foe labor of three
years, the best quality of Tea Nuts, I am disposed to
meet tho wishes of the public, and to share them
wiih others.—TeaNuts gathered in tho neighborhood
of Canton are scarcely worth cultivating, on accodnt
of the inferior quality of tho Tea. It is obviously the
interest of the planter to submit to an Increased ex.
pen'se, to secure u superior quality of Tea Nut, in es
tablishing a Tea Plantation, whether large or small.
In prosecuting this arduous undertaking, I am in
fact acting as an agent for the benefit of the public.
Neither tins State, tho public, or any individual, has
over extended to mo tho aid of a single cent.
For convenience and security, the Nuts will be
pneked in tin boxes, and forwarded from Greenville,
S. Cl, by such conveyance und to such address as the
purchaser limy direct, to any part of tho U. States.
TEA PLANTS—now on their passage from China,
selected with a single eyo to quality, by a gentleman
of large experience inliortieultural pursuits, and pr
imps Cotter acquainted with the character of the Tea
Plant, than any person iu Europe or America—will
also bo shared with those desirous of obtaining a
small supply, •
A specification of tho soil hestadapted to the growth
f the plant, the mode of planting, cultivating, &c.
:c., will accompany each parcel.
Application should lie made (postpaid) to the sub
scriber. , ,,
