ROBERTSON’S PATENT
KEYED-STOP FINGER-BOARD,
FOR THE VIOEIN.
T HE Violin is undoubtedly the moot popu
lar and valuable musical Instrument In use,
and, as played In the old style, the most difficult to
learn. The most discouraging obstacle Is the “stop
ping lu tune,” or. In other words, the holding of the
strings at tbe exact spot to produce a correct and
perfect note. The Keyed Finger Board, one-eighth
ot an inch in thickness, Is placed over the strings;
the keys, which project above tho top, are elevated
by spiral springs und pressed down with tho finger
until the string Is held firm, producing each note
with the utmost accuracy; the keys homing the
strings much firmer than by the finger, thereby
greatly increasing and improving the tone of the
instrument. Each key Is marked with Its proper
character, is seen and felt; there can be no guess
work lu the play, no false note or stopping out o1
tuue; every note, if play ed at all, must be a perfect
and correct note. It adds no perceptible Weight, is
almost as durabl as the Instrument ltseil, and ca.i
In a few moments time, be attached to any violin.
Those who have hud some practice on the violin
can fully appreciate this Improvement, us they can
have it attached to Ihelr own Instrument and play
at first sight, with an ease of execntlon and correct
ness of stop Impossible for them without it; and
those who desire to iearn wili, In twelve lessons,
with the Keved Board, pluy the popular music 01
tho day with a correctness and satisfaction that
would require years of practlco in the old stylo. By
this Improvement thousxuds will be enabled to play
the violin who, lacking a correct ear, could not pos
sibly play on the open strings.
